I've NEVER gotten a job from Linkedin lol. as much as I've seen Indeed get hated on its giving me my last 4-5 jobs over the past 7 years.

I was about to say, I wouldn't even consider it a serious source of employment which is why I don't have one. It's weird that it has become this common.

I've applied to the largest companies in the DC area and have never been been forced to provide a LinkedIn profile. Who is doing this?

You can sign in using LinkedIn but this person acts like LinkedIn is mandatory

I have seen an optional URL field for it, but you just....skip it lol Idk why it's being treated like you're not getting a job without doing so.

Maybe not in your field. I've literally seen companies where it is only possible to apply via LinkedIn. In others the URL field was mandatory. I'm happy to know not everyone faces this issue.

Just asking who or what field as an example? Government contractors, financial institutions, tech companies don't do this.

I'm not saying that all companies require LinkedIn. I work in tech and today 5 companies in a row had LinkedIn profile as a requirement. They were using bamboo hr to handle applications, which required to fill the URL. Besides that, when applying on some companies websites, I was directed to LinkedIn. Not to mention how they make applications easier if you use LinkedIn but when applying directly they make you fill everything manually even when you already provided your resume.
