I'm not sure if it's unpopular, but I agree with you. I'm never risking $20+ on prime rib when there are other menu options. I think it just sounds expensive, but it's really inferior to other kinds of steak imo. I feel the same way about ribeye.

That would make sense. Ribeye is literally the same cut of meet just made by the slice lol

I agree, never been a fan of it. I like some fat on my steak, but prime rib feels like it's all fat.

Prime Rib is the most delicious food on the planet. If you think otherwise then you'd never had a properly prepared rib and I pity you.

It's good but inferior to most regularly prepared steak. My dad used to buy Eye of Round steak for us, exclusively. Prime rib is far superior.

Some restaurants will indeed serve Prime graded prime rib. Then after a supplier price increase start serving Choice. Then after another price increase they'll start slinging out Select. Just so ya know.

a well prepared prime rib is delicious and soft. If you have never had one well prepared I feel sorry for you. that said, It is a hard thing to do right and a lot of restaurants are not up to the task. simply offering it doesnt mean its going to be a good restaurant.

Lack of sear is a serious problem for me.

I came into a restaurant that was basically giving away prime rib at cost with what they were selling it at on the menu. We took it off the menu and the locals nearly ran me out on a rail. It wasn't good. It's kept at temp with a heat lamp. It's gross. Maybe for Christmas dinner when mom makes it.

I'm with you, OP. If I'm having beef, a dry aged prime NY strip, please. Or a nice hanger steak. The occasional flat iron.

Prime rib is good if you buy it from the right 6 month old girl. They're the only ones properly trained to sell it correctly. One time I went to Lawry's and this dude comes to the table all, "howdy I'm Llewelyn and I'll be your server today.." and we were like, "nah brah. Save it. Just walk away brah you're done now." Namsayin?
