And here I am, missing the time when Raiders of the Lost Ark was PG with people getting shot in the head, crushed by tanks and their faces literally melting off.

My parents were strict on TV and movies but for reading we couldn't read anything worse than the bible*. Reading helped my a lot to come to terms with my homosexuality, it helped me see lives that I could possibly live. It never helped with my spelling grammer however. This is going to sound weird but my brain made things age appropriate. Reading an interaction between two men would actually be guys my own age. *My parents did raise us religious, the statement it was a litmus as the whether to argue or not.

Gotten too lax? It's considerably less lax than it was when it started. Especially when you're complaining about mere innuendo. That's the whole point of parental guidance in the first place. That's exactly what PG was meant for. Innuendo without being explicit.

Totally agree. And to your point, the rating PG13 wasn't introduced until 1985. Before that it you jumped from PG to R.

I mean, nudity and sex makes a movie go up in rating. Most teenagers understand sex. So "understanding" is fairly irrelevant to what a rating should be.

Buddy, you don't want to know how many 14 year olds throughout history have met their ends at the end of a sword in battle. Kids today can handle a Batman movie.

Little children were literally running entire civilizations for eons and they're worried a kid might see a turtle kick a bad guy through a wall 🤣

You mean G movies?

This and also innuendos that go under the radar of kids are a non issue

Then just don't watch them. Any of them. Problem solved.

When exactly do you think movie ratings were stricter? Because I promise the lax is in the past.

Inside Out 2 fits exactly what you're looking for.

Oh we love that movie! There's a few decent ones from Disney like Encanto and Coco but it doesn't seem to be as common nowadays, I do miss getting a good Robin Williams or Steve Martin family movie though. I feel like those style family movies have been mostly replaced with live action remakes

I am so arrogant that the only rating i care about, is my own rating, only my rating has value to me, other peoples ratings has zero value to me. I don't care how other people rate things.

Just actors trying to earn money that day.
