That's a problem driven by the immigration system, not the university system.

I know I will get hate for this- but why does this matter? If US university = worse employability for international students at the end, why does it matter what the reason is? They are better off studying in their own country at a better university

Well for one, it might not. I don't have the numbers on hand and you've simply given some anecdotes re ability to stay in the US long term. In my experience in big law in NY, some 75% of my international colleagues (either US JD or LLM) were able to stay. Those who couldn't stay were placed in offices within the network in other desirable locations where immigration was not an issue--maybe not their most ideal outcome, but they're still making over six figures and likely in a lower CoL area. Secondly, your whole argument presupposes that the hype around US universities is focused on international students. I'd say the hype rather comes from the feeder nature of these schools into big name employers across essentially every field. Agnostic of the origin of the students. The US itself is a huge provider thereto. International students are important, and judging by the rates at which they attend US universities, there is almost certainly a majority of them that are getting something out of it. Anecdotal evidence here again, but many colleagues of mine in legal practice in the US and Germany were open about the fact that if staying in either of those places long term didn't work, their US or German degrees would elevate them above their peers back home. They are mostly Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani and Eastern European. Worst case they go back to the region of origin but to the largest market nearby.

Apply for a big law job in NY, London or Singapore or a big tech job in Cali with your U of Manchester degree vs a mid to upper tier US university and you'll find out why they're viewed differently.

Fine maybe that was a bad example but I genuinely don't know anyone in the US who knows about it

Are you an example of this superior education?

Singapore?

Right, that's my point. American things have an inherently higher status…or maybe they're just weighted disproportionately…although that is definitely shifting to be sure. But you're right in that it doesn't at all reflect reality and is bogus in many regards. But sigh it is how us humans seem to always operate.

I'm sorry you didn't get into an American university. Have a great day!

I did but thanks anyway

Someone well-packed below the waist does not care about university prestige. Get therapy if you can afford it.

I disagree. Harvard, mit, stanford, etc. are also over hyped. The great value of schools generally is in their network, not educational value.
