If you think these countries can dig wells on their own, why don't they? Also, bill gates is funding stuff like medical research to fix diseases that mostly afflict poor countries so no, those countries can't do that themselves and by virtue of medicine being produced for maximum profit, the free market won't do that, either. He's not paying to dig a well or put up solar panels on mud huts. (And for what that's worth, America can have malaria, too. We just don't have that much of it. Not enough for Pfizer to get rich eradicating it.)

I mean... you're not wrong. There are lots of reasons for it, but you could give a billion dollars to some of these countries, and truck in thousands of loads of fresh food and water. They'd help some, yeah. But quickly disappear into the hands of corrupt government leadership, warlords, etc., who will use them to enrich themselves.

I agree, a central working democracy is vital to create a working infrastructure. Water pipes, sewer pipes all have to exsist and be maintained to even have a civilization. anything that is not that is a waste, why build a well when you can just turn on a tap? because there is no pipes

Not to remove the blame for those corrupt politicians in the 3rd country countries, but is well known the USA and other Western countries are intentionally and actively disrupting and destabilizing those countries. Either propaganda or straight up causing inflation so they can drain their natural resources.
