+53 Training legs is dumb, amirite?

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Alright, chicken legs.

by Solid_Purchase_9036 2 weeks ago

I don't have chicken legs

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

This opinion is… astonishingly dumb. How the hell are you going to lift anything if your legs are like matchsticks?

by Least-Mountain9874 2 weeks ago

I like the "training legs is exhausting". Homeboy, if you're training to failure, all your exercise days should be exhausting.

by Solid_Purchase_9036 2 weeks ago

Training to failure is not the most efficient way to train, though.

by Vegetable_Sherbet906 2 weeks ago

training legs is most exhausting

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Yes, Bukakak

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Of all the excuses to come up with, this is certainly one of them.

by Any-Concert 2 weeks ago

lol.

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Has a woman ever asked to allow her to suck your toes so that she would be able to admire your glorious legs?

by Vegetable_Sherbet906 2 weeks ago

If leg days make you look short and stubby, then it sounds like you're already doing a bad job with the rest of your body. Nobody likes to see chicken legs.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

The rest of my body actually is great

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Apparently not if leg days make you look short and stubby.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Not properly appreciating nice thighs is a red flag. Like word art levels of red flag.

by zackaryrunte 2 weeks ago

Did someone make fun of your legs and you got upset?

by breanaspencer 2 weeks ago

No

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

This

by Solid_Purchase_9036 2 weeks ago

yes, aesthetics, the only reason to exercise

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Let's be real here, the reason most people get cut is aesthetics. We've seen time and time again that working out at the gym doesn't give you the most functional strength, and people with leaner muscles don't look nearly as cut a lot of the time, but are a lot more powerful per weight. But if you look into lifting, you're going to mostly find advice for looking stronger. If it was all fitness, people wouldn't lift all that much, because there are much better ways to get physically healthy.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

looks > physical strength

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Haha what is life like having ankles that merge into legs that merge into your butt

by Leilanifisher 2 weeks ago

yuck

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

How you talk about aesthetically pleasing while looking like an upside-down triangle?

by trompjaylin 2 weeks ago

In my opinion the upside down triangle is the most aesthetically pleasing

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Johnny Bravo is the peak masculine form.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Nah. I always regret it when I skip leg sessions, and I'm ashamed to say I skip them a lot more often than I should. If you do cardio that works legs as well as weight training, your legs will tone and not look chunky as you add mass. But even chunky is better than disproportionately scrawny legs.

by Bayerkatelynn 2 weeks ago

If your goal is trying to look aesthetically pleasing, then you should train legs as well.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Giant upper body and pencil stick legs is aesthetically pleasing?

by KeyAtmosphere 2 weeks ago

He thinks the triangle body shape starts at the ground instead of the hips

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

i would rarely do legs because I'd get a great leg workout playing soccer + great cardio. plus when I'd do legs soccer would be out of the question lol

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

the thighs rubbing together is suddenly happening to me and I find it really annoying. My squat game has improved drastically though.

by Spirited_Abroad 2 weeks ago

So you don't often lift things in life with your legs is what you're saying? Honestly I haven't trained them much myself, but the reasoning is much simpler: It's hard keep walking the rest of the day and however long it takes to recover. Upper body you can often get away with not holding heavy loads but legs you have to keep on moving as needed. That doesn't mean it's bad to do it, just means I usually don't wanna.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I mean it's not exactly an unpopular opinion among gym goers, I've known plenty of people that never train their legs. There's literally jokes about skipping leg day. It's still one of the largest muscle on the human body though.

by Worth_Huckleberry572 2 weeks ago

I remember when I was a personal trainer and women would often say something like, "I don't want to get huge like those muscle ladies." It doesn't happen because you picked up weights a few times. Those muscle ladies are incredibly dedicated, and some are on gear. Getting big legs doesn't happen because you did a few squats, and lower body exercises are probably the most important as you age so that you can stay mobile. If you don't want to get huge legs, then don't do hypertrophic exercises, but having strong legs is probably a good idea.

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Counterpoint - If you want to live a longer, healthier life, train your legs.

by Trick_Gur6388 2 weeks ago

I will when i'm 40

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Training legs doesn't make you look short unless you're already short

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'm a short woman and I agree. Long, slim legs look better, no need for leg day.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Female gaze > Male gaze

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

The OP would be surprised to learn that training legs actually helps to get a bigger upper body because of the hormonal boost it gives you.

by Vegetable_Sherbet906 2 weeks ago

ahh if only you realised XD

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Big leg trying to scam us by making us dummy thic

by Extreme_Pitch2451 2 weeks ago

This is the same vibe as girls who don't lift weights because they think they will look like arnold after 2 weeks

by TraditionalPiglet 2 weeks ago

"everyone skips leg day" "nobody care about legs" Enough said

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I should have worded it properly

by Trantowdonavon 2 weeks ago

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

OP does not even lift

by lenny85 2 weeks ago

i do

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

I can tell if this is an unpopular opinion or you are just venting lol

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

The thing is the difference between legs and upper body looks worse.

by External-Claim4797 2 weeks ago

I have to train my legs to keep my raggedy knees in place. But do you

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

that is a valid reason to train them. Im talking about aesthetics

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Legs and back are most used muscles whether you're completely sedentary, work a laborous job or do lots of labour at home, or are a recreational athlete Leg exercises also work back and core. Whatever various people vaguely define as functional, doing squats and leg exercises will keep you nimble, strong, and mobile into old age. Bench and curls less so

by Neither-Mine 2 weeks ago

I mean, if you want to look disproportional then I suppose this is true.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Crazy take. I am complemented more on my legs than anything else by a wide margin. Because so many dont train legs and because they're pretty genetic dependant, or atleast calves are, if you're rocking some bomb ass legs and some good above the knee shorts to go with em, you're gonna get noticed.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Good job. Complimented by mostly women or men?

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

"They don't look good". Not if you keep skipping leg day they don't.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Your 45 year old self will thank you if you train your legs.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Oh yes when i'm in my 40's ill train my legs a bit, but for now I like being slender in the leg department

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Ok, Gru.

by Ona08 2 weeks ago

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Toned legs make you look even skinnier imo It makes you look like a real athlete

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

duh

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

How do you think people get nice butts? And who doesn't like a nice butt?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Only women should train legs

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

You'd be surprised how many women like men's butts. That's what attracted my mom to my dad and I've gotten several compliments. Imagine what happened just by actually worked out.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

This is truly an unpopular opinion and I hope you never have to pick anything up. Remember the most important part of a building/tree/ or anything remotely spectacular starts with a good foundation and the legs… they are the foundation

by qhintz 2 weeks ago

lol

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Many people train to be functionally stronger and better at things. Not everybody is doing it to look better. I think training with the sole intent of looking better is dumb.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

im talking about looks

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

I know. Im saying that's a stupid way to qualify training legs

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Those points only make sense if you were only doing leg day lmao. Also its not like you do one leg day and all the sudden your body proportions are wack. You can do more or less of anything to get the body type you want

by LengthCritical2624 2 weeks ago

haha

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

This has got to be ragebait

by Necessary_Wave 2 weeks ago

im being for real

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

You know some of us like being strong, right?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I train legs because I'm a runner and don't want an injury. Also leg strength is important because it bares weight, there's a reason people say "lift with your legs and not your back". Legs may seem like a waste of time if you're young, but as you get older leg strength is super important, otherwise your back will go FAST. Not saying you need beefy legs (I don't and don't want them), but training isn't only about aesthetics.

by Mallory68 2 weeks ago

If you think about it, you train legs everytime you walk anywhere, and the weight your legs carry is your upper body. So if you have a big upper body, it automatically trains the legs. /S Is what I'd say if I wanted chicken legs.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You got it bro...keep working your "glory" muscles only.... you'll have a strong upper body, too bad it takes legs to actually do things like pick up stuff.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I mean if you're only working out to look good sure.

by Inner-Border 2 weeks ago

I was born with THICK legs but matchstick arms. I literally have to skip leg day to try and fix this genetic anomaly.

by Sad_Access3219 2 weeks ago

You better train legs in Florida year round. Don't want the prison build in shorts! Lol

by Powerful_Lake5522 2 weeks ago

Thats okay

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago

Possibly the most idiotic gym take I've ever seen. Believe it or not, other people work out to improve sports and activities that involve more than just appearing like a piece of meat to women. Legs are used for basically every activity outside of sitting on a bench press.

by Archtillman 2 weeks ago

just appearing like a piece of meat to women Hate to break it to you, but a dude with big muscles is gonna be a piece of meat to other men, not to women.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

If you have nice legs girls will notice too. Girls love the athletic look

by Bitter_Revolution 2 weeks ago

Im talking about aesthetics. Looks > strength and anything else

by Spare_Breadfruit 2 weeks ago
