Seinfeld and King of Queens are the only old sitcoms I'll watch and don't mind the laugh track

Game Of Thrones would've had a completely different vibe

I mean Big Bang Theory has laugh tracks and is still one of the most popular comedy shows streaming.

I like the laugh track it gives it a communal feel, I know I'm in the minority though. I do feel like there are shows with good and bad laugh tracks though.

Laugh track. It's called a laugh track

I feel like we need an educational PSA on the difference between a live studio audience and a laugh track… a live studio audience is a classic television tradition, and can add a ton to a show and how it feels, making it feel more like a stage performance than a movie. Shows like Seinfeld or all in the family really benefit from it. Laugh tracks are cheap imitations and worthy of making fun of, because they don't ever have that same vibe. A lot of Disney shows are guilty of that.

Very popular opinion

Lots of people love it

Is this an unpopular opinion?

Apparently yes. According to lots of people

With the laugh track part, or the Friends not being funny part? Personally I agree, but fans of Friends are like the 90s swifties, they will come at you hard

It's funny because even in their hey day, sitcoms with laugh tracks pissed me off so much as a kid. I brought it up constantly to my parents and older relatives and nobody agreed with me. "WHY are they laughing at everything??? That wasn't funny. WHO is laughing??? What's going on?" "SHUT UP!"

Could be worse, you could be watching Filipino Variety Shows, the fake laugh track is mind numbingly overused

by Sengerkayley 1 week ago

Yeah I hate it when I watch a live play and everyone around me is laughing. I'm like SHUT UP DON'T TELL ME WHATS FUNNY.

Strip away the laugh track from a lot of sitcoms, and it's just a group of so-called friends making snide remarks to each other.

And then sitting in silence for 15 seconds

There are laugh tracks like in Big Bang Theory where they want to tell you something is supposed to be funny, and there are laugh tracks like in Seinfeld where you feel like you're laughing with a group of friends. Some shows do it better than others is all I'm saying.

Big bang theory isn't a laugh track btw. It's actual people laughing at the jokes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Friends not funny? Well, shows the true essense of unpopular opinion.

I've never once laughed watching Friends and saw it as a kid in the 90's. Same goes for Big Bang Theory, another popular sitcom with a laugh track. I actually liked the shows for whatever reason but don't find them funny at all lol I did laugh at Seinfeld.

Most of its jokes rely on outdated stereotypes

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Well, its a show of 90s.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's all just canned laughter instead of real humor

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Canned laughter? Do you even know what you're talking about? Friends was filmed in front of an audience. If the audience didn't laugh, they changed the joke/s. Perry has stated in interviews that when the audience didn't laugh, he would be devastated.

Like I said its a show of 90s. Perhaps such laughter were appreciated more then. Well, what you mean real humor?
