There's no excuse anymore. The 'excuse' is it's not particularly profitable. Smart speakers deserve to be redesigned as real, independent products — not just Trojan horses for e-commerce or ad revenue. "Deserved" is an odd choice of words, but moving on.....sure, they could be redesigned as real, independent products, but is there a commercially viable market for that? Remember the main axiom of commerce: If it doesn't make cents, it doesn't make sense.
