-74 If the punishment to an animal displaying symptoms of ptsd is death, the punishment for abusing animals and causing them ptsd should be death, amirite?

I oppose the death penalty for humans for one simple reason, our justice system is fallible and can't be trusted to not kill innocent people.

That's insane "logic"

... I don't get the second bit but I agree with the first.

Nope, death sentences are a bad idea in general.

I do agree i meant more in theory. Mostly the reason i say only in theory is because the government is corrupt and would lie that people they dont like or disagree with them are animal abusers as a source of control. In an honest world. Also, i didnt clarify and i should have i meant in extereme case and when its very deliberate and they only adopt them to beat them

No, making criminal sentences harsher does not cause a decrease in crime.

Prevention is only one ideology for why to have criminal punishments. So just pointing out that it doesn't reduce crime doesn't in itself suggest no one should do it. A big ideology behind criminal sentences is Punishment. The person is seen as having wronged society and thus through punishment they repay that debt to society. Treatment is a third ideology. Not as relevant when considering the death penalty. Though I supposed death being threatened could lead to more seeking treatment and if they showed that before sentencing maybe they don't get the harshest sentence. I also don't buy there isn't some limit to this. If murder's punishment was just a small fine, I think there would be a lot more murder. So clearly there is some level of increasing punishment that has a deterrent effect. Now increasing 30 years to death penalty may be more arguable as not having a preventative effect. Even for less extremes, if speeding risked prison time immediately I think there'd be less speeding.

Maybe not, but it makes people feel like the world is at least somewhat just.

Why dont you try sounding smart instead and provide sources? You aren't capable of using proper grammar, though, so I won't be holding my breath.

The punishment for an animal displaying symptoms of PTSD is not death.

by Cletusjast 6 days ago

It's a nice idea but the punishment for mass murder is rarely death.

by jeraldlubowitz 6 days ago

Unless it's a mass murder of poodles.

if human beings count as animal, then there wouldn't be any person left on earth. well...maybe one...unless it is murder-suicide.
