Breathing rapidly leads to a cycle of signal and bodily reaction. Breathing slowly and mindfully prevents that cycle from occurring. Deep breathing won't fix you or anyone else, but it will help prevent a panic attack that could have possibly been avoided

How did you get rid of your anxiety?

by Anonymous 6 days ago

That's the funny thing. When I was thirteen it's like it just went away. I'm not even exaggerating. I did absolutely nothing; it just worked like magic. It might have been because of puberty? Or maybe just random? I have no clue

Severe anxiety doesn't go away by doing nothing especially if you don't do therapy

Well it's been years since then and I haven't experienced anything as severe as I described since before I was thirteen

Yeah, you do need to take a deep breath.

I have found deep breathing to be extremely useless, it creates a active breathing cycle that i have trouble getting out of and start to hyperventilate.

First, learn the mystical art of paragraphs. Then we can talk about breathing.

Sometimes breathe deeply means just focus on breathing and don't think about anything else. It's a way of being mindful of the flow of time, time doesn t speed up, it doesn't slow down. It's constant and you are the only thing that is speeding up or slowing down. So when people say just breathe it means get out of your head and let things go back to normal speed. Anxiety is definitely pulling you away from reality. Things are never as urgent as anxiety fools you into believing they are.
