Well this is the thing, people pretend to care or be all wacky and say "you are a monster!" but there is no reason. I wouldn't even be able to guess what is right and wrong as either way it pulls off fine. If people really struggle with it and can't tear it off one way, just pop it round the other way?

I prefer it over the front because it's just easier for me to tear one-handed. That said, i agree that the other way isn't wrong, and anyone using the touching the wall excuse is hillarious.

There are people who are doomed to hang it the wrong way, because they made the mistake of allowing cats and/or babies into their homes. They assure me that the sacrifice is worth it, but I have my doubts.

This is the answer. You hang it correctly for as long as you can, then you have kids and it has to face the wall. Maybe one day I can flip it back, but it's not today.

The correct way to hang toilet paper is over the roll, unless you have cats. Then it's acceptable to hang it over the roll

It's not the toilet paper touching the wall that's the tissue issue in our bathroom. My partner's OCD nature and germaphobia has her preferring it hang away from the wall so that dirty hands don't touch it when grabbing the paper, which I agree. Just more clearance that way and eliminates a dirty spot. Either way, even then hands will be washed afterwards anyway.

There is a wrong way. The only way that it could be hung in which you could get a surprise spider riding on it without even knowing it was there. This can only happen if hung the wrong way.
