It completely depends. I just had a group party on the 4th for the first time in half a decade but we play games for hours at a time on the weekends and occasionally during the week. And honestly it didn't feel any more special

Sounds like you're surrounding yourself with the wrong people I hardly ever drink, and I go hang out with my friends multiple times a week . You can't play board games, go for a walk or hike together, watch a movie, listen to music, and just chat? My friends and I go to karaoke sober all the time.

People need to do what makes them happy. If it's not physically hurting anyone let people find community where they find it.
