Absolutely true. Loneliness is treated like a flaw to be fixed not a natural part of life. We're constantly sold the idea that if we buy the right stuff, go to the right places or look a certain way, we'll be loved and surrounded by people but it's all a cycle because the more we chase that image, the more disconnected we actually feel. Real connection can't be bought but consumer culture thrives on making us think it can.

It can encourage loneliness too. Having one product per individual. One copy of a video game. One ticket for one person at a concert or cinema.
