+48 Duolingo should also teach the language's curse words and swearing. amirite?

Duolingo isn't a particularly effective way to teach language. It straddles the line between academy technicality and street usage, and it often fails to identify which it wants. They got rid of the forums where people could discuss slang and other nuances. They teach no grammar or mechanics principles. Babbel is by far the superior product.

I was going to say Duolingo barely teaches a language, let alone nuanced swear words

Duolingo has the funny owl at least

I never learned Spanish faster than I did when some fluent speakers taught me a bunch of swears.

they also had a flirting unit in Spanish a few years back. Cuando dios invento la belleza se Inspiron en ti.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think you meant: Cuándo Dios inventó la belleza, se inspiró a ti. Your translation registered the first "Dios" as singular and the second as plural.

sorry it was a long time back and I haven't kept up with Spanish 😭

Duolingo never meant to bring you to the level of fluency. You start with the correct basics and expend beyond if you're serious.

Jokes and profanity in a foreign language are really risky. Better avoid them, trust me.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Jokes, sure. But profanity?? Where's the risk of knowing what word to scream when you stub your toe? In fact, it's risky not knowing profanity, as you may accidentally say it in a bad context when pronouncing a different word.

I would disagree big time - it's "risky" but among friends, it's a rewarding way to really learn the usage of certain words.

People shouldn't use Duo at all after it replaced workers with AI

I disagree. Would you say the average 3rd grader whose native language is English doesn't know it well? They don't know curse words, but they can still know the language.
