Well, in my country they're considered one, if they can go above 15.5mph.(need it taxed etc) So the opinion on that is technically correct for at least my country lol.

Where's that?

I'll take my bike off the sidewalk the moment there are safe and continuous bike paths
by DueDistribution4 days ago
Well, you are making sidewalks unsafe for walkers.

In my state (NC) gas powered scooters that travel under 30 mph do not require a license or a registration. The assist to a class 3 e-bike is limited to 28 mph. So it is under the threshold to be considered a motor cycle.

respectfully, as a kid where the cops will impound my 5k bike and make it so I can't get my license until I'm 18, no, I'd rather a random person on the internet get mad at me than the police
by Anonymous4 days ago
Registration on a bicycle? ππππ If I have to insure it and get registration I'll just get a moped instead

You're the one sounding hugely defensive
by Anonymous4 days ago
Yeah, let's get the government involved in biking⦠that sounds like an awesome idea. Why should e-bikes require helmets when motorcycles do not? Who does the registration and insurance benefit? Do you just hate e-bikes that much?
by Anonymous4 days ago
A lot of countries do actually have laws that require a helmet for motorcycles.
by Effective-Affect4 days ago
I 100% agree with this.
by Anonymous4 days ago
I was about to say that they are in my country The weirder part is that in my country, e-scooters (like the ones equivalent to skateboarding, but electric) are required to wear a helmet, but ebikes, which can drive a lot faster, don't require a helmet
by Anonymous4 days ago
Honestly, motorbikes should really require helmets. It makes no sense for them not to. If you're not wearing a helmet and you get into a crash, you're probably not getting up again.
by Aggressive-Spite23404 days ago
You would be safer wearing a helmet walking down the street too. Do you want that law
by Apprehensive-Card3 days ago
in most sensible places, motorcycles do require helmets.

Motorcycles require helmets...
by Anonymous3 days ago
Not where I am from.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Guess everyone here isn't from the same place then.
by Anonymous3 days ago
I'd love to know the figure on motorcycle related deaths, wherever you're from. Your lawmakers are idiots
by Gislasonkaleb3 days ago
Going to assume they're from the US based off how they reacted.
by Effective-Affect3 days ago
I don't know why we need the government to be involved. If dummies want to ride around without helmets, let them.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Mobility scooters are also motor vehicles, so are motorised wheel chairs. What do you do with those?
by Anonymous3 days ago
If they go 20mph+ they should be registered and insured
by Apprehensive-Card3 days ago
I disagree. E-bikes have motors but are far safer than motorcycles. Imposing the same requirements as motorcycles on everyone with a e-bike will only make them more inaccessible.
