"I'm miserable so you all have to be miserable too" ~OP

by Mikaylajacobs 4 days ago

That's the attitude of many people these days. "That person A doesn't deserve X because person B has it worse," - how about we work towards everyone getting X instead?

Not only unpopular, but deeply ignorant. Well done op!

Have you ever worked as a teacher? If not, your opinion is just uninformed. If Teachers have such a good work life balance and get paid so much for apparently doing so little, why are you not working as one yourself? It seems like you've found the perfect job for yourself but seemingly would rather work your apparently awful job instead.

If we have it so good come do our job ¯\(ツ)/¯ Anyway, we don't get multiple months off. We get multiple months forced unemployment. I'm not paid for the summer. The checks I receive then were pulled from my salary earlier in the year.

That's still multiple months off…

I love being a teacher. You're the one bitching here. If you want our "time off" and our salary, come do our job. There's a national teacher shortage because most people aren't willing to do what we do for our salary, so you should have no trouble finding a job.

Don't forget retire after 30 years and live like 30 more because their job was easy af and they got summer long sabbaticals their entire career. Also unlimited paid sick days to make sure they stayed healthy.

You grew up in a family of teachers yet you don't know that teachers take reduced pay during the year so they can get paid during the summer? That many of them work summer and part time jobs? It sounds like you hate your job and instead of doing anything about it, you are taking it out on an unrelated vocation. If teaching is so great and easy then why don't you become a teacher?

Why are you directing your anger at other working class people instead of at the people who make your current job miserable?

by Automatic-Policy-905 3 days ago

They only work eight months out of the year and bitch about how stressed out they are. My sister is a teacher she's currently on a beach vacation this is her third vacation this year.

It's very funny that you think 60k a year has teachers living in luxury I would tell you I'm sorry your job and life is so miserable, but I'm not so I won't. You sound awful lol

The rare actual unpopular opinion.

Deal with kids and their parents for 3 months, especially during the end of the year during testing and grades being finalized. You will change you mind.

Everybodies jobs suck. Otherwise you wouldn't have to pay people.

Deal with attorneys and their clients bitching every single day every single day because there are no breaks. Or how about you work at customer service or work as a nurse. Everybody has a job where they have to deal with miserable people and stress, but not everybody has a job where they get multiple months off a year.

Teachers have to pay for decorating their classroom, and school supplies out of their own wallet. So they get paid even less than what it looks like. Besides, teaching being hard doesn't mean your job isn't hard.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

They don't have to decorate their room. That's a choice.

then get a masters degree.

by bereniceernser 3 days ago

OP has never had a Master's only to find out it was to be a glorified babysitter.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Then don't become a teacher.
