Unpopular opinions are often unpopular for a reason. However, I stand by this. I am also glad to see that people are finally starting to recognize the fact that birds are indeed dinosaurs. They did not just evolve from them. Evolution and family trees can indeed be quite surprising at times! But the way taxonomy works, humans are STILL classified as a species of Sarcopterygii, regardless of how long it is since we moved onto land. And Sarcopterygii are objectively lobe-finned fish. That said, I see the value of not taking taxonomic classifications too seriously. While we are lobe-finned fish, the word "fish" doesn't hold a lot of weight in the taxological sense, considering the fact that all mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, really all tetrapods are also part of the Sarcopterygii clade. Still, that doesn't change the fact that you, me, my dog and the neighbors cat, and those annoying seagulls flying above us are all lobe-finned fish.
