+76 F1 is not a sport, amirite?

Clearly a bait

by elsiegoyette 3 days ago

Ok, heres another: motorsports are sports, but esports are then as well

by Anonymous 3 days ago

One requires you to be physically fit, and exercise training increases success in sport. the other does not

by Anonymous 3 days ago

There are successful motorsports athletes that were overweight. Look up Mike Harmon. And exercise training does increase success rates in esports and is almost always a part of their training regimen. So i am unsure what you mean

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Youre welcome to explain the difference. The reality is that traditional sports fans look down on motorsports the same way that everyone looks down on esports. At the core they are all games of skill and all qualify as sports, and its pointless to gatekeep the term for any of them.

Ok?

by Sufficient-One7404 3 days ago

Yes it is.... Wdym which meatball is saying otherwise? But I also wouldn't place eSports into track and field level. More like chess/darts/pool level. Also, please Dev's do away with the randomness of some of the mechanics. RNG don't belong in skill based gaming.

Sure kids can drive at 120 mph, but one of those kids is going to be the best at it.

by Odd_Variation 3 days ago

Sure kids can drive at 120 mph, but only one of those kids is going to come out alive out of Turn 1.. FTFY

by Anonymous 3 days ago

This is just some low effort rage bait

by Anonymous 3 days ago

It's an incredibly physical activity (not an opinion, just a known fact) requiring significant skill and practice with a winner at the end. That is what being a sport means

by Anonymous 3 days ago

I would even go as far as to classify motorsports as endurance sports. Rather than being similar to track&field and other sports that focus on putting out the best performance on 1 short run. 2 hrs of constant Gs with 5/6G peaksel every lap/other minute isn't a 1 run thing.

I hate everything F1 because of the shady stuffs and blood money. But it is a sport, particularly motorsport. your argument is flawed. by that logic, I (or anyone actually) can become a world-class footballer because I can kick a ball super fast. or, I can become pro gamer because I can shoot heads a lot in CSGO I have driven over 120mph (not a flex), I never even consider myself to be a motorsport-qualified person

Yea tell me you've never been on a track without telling me you've never been on a track

OP would crash and burn out on the first turn taking out all poor souls in his vicinity,

by IntroductionOld1476 3 days ago

You can rent a car for a track day with instruction. Go try it. Without competition crowded all around you.

by Adorable_Sweet8239 3 days ago

Unless all the engines are exactly the same then the races are unfair.

Car racing, bowling, and lots of others don't feel like sports.

by Single_Delivery9947 3 days ago

And this kids is why you make sure you know the basic fundamentals of what you talk about before forming an opinion on it.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

F1 requires a lot of skill. Not to mention G-forces. Driver must be very fit just to tolerate them.

by Concepcionreich 3 days ago

You're its just a video game, but you can die.

by Best_Parsnip4750 3 days ago

I am as much a proponent of the idea that car driving and other motorsports are not proper sports, as the vehicle does most of the work, but to claim that "anyone can do it" is beyond absurd. Just because it's not a sport doesn't mean that it's easy.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Theres events where you can do 3 laps of F1 for like 10000$. Why 3 laps? Because most people are physically unable to do more, even though theyre driving nowhere near the limit. And without proper neck training not even very fit guys are able to brake and still look at the track, instead their head smashes forward. Women drivers also arent physically able to handle F2.

I hate when people say E sports... more like professional no lifer. Driving those cars is pretty demanding tho,
