+59 Nintendo switch 2 game key cards are not that bad, amirite?

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Sony and Xbox do not have an empty CD that serves as a key for you to download a game .. they just have physical games or they allow you to just download the game online .. Nintendo is doing this and a whole lot of other things to be anti-consumer. IDK why y'all defend that toxic company so hard.. They got good games but not good enough to defend them

The idea of game key cards being available for games that otherwise wouldn't fit on a switch 2 cart is a great alternative to a code in a box. The problem is that publishers are using it for games that would have fit on a cartridge to cheap out and that is disrespectful. Nintendo should have limited 3rd party publishers use of key cards.

some games have no fit on the discs for ps or xbox for years

Code-in-a-box is absolutely a thing on PS/Xbox.

And this is exactly why it is so bad and dangerous, it starts small and we get used to crapier experiences little by little

Sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about. Those Xbox and Playstation discs work without downloading anything. Switch 2 game key cards don't do anything without the download.

I might be under the wrong impression since I haven't actually used the game cards yet, but isn't it a system to transfer a game over to another switch? Like you are able to use the licensing or whatever from the digital copy on another device. If that's the case I don't see why anyone would have an issue with it, makes sharing games easier

i agree there is completely nothing wrong with them and I would say they're an upgrade to the old cases they sold with just a download code

Couple things. That's not how it works. Physical discs install the game to the system on Xbox and PS5. They have the files, but they install them directly to the system because of limitations when reading a disc. You can't get that ultra fast SSD speed on a disc, it's just not doable. Other than that, once installed, the disc is just required to be in to play the game, but most of the data is read off of the install. Even if that was how it works, excusing the current bad because the other two are doing it doesn't make it right.

Who's still buying physical games in Anno Domini 2025?
