my girlfriend is quite supportive of the police. her only criticism is that they are always quite slow, arriving only after some bad thing happened. but... they are pretty effective at making sure it never happens again. from that person. saves court costs, too.

Assuming you live in the US (and it sounds like you do)- getting away from the police is totally doable: There are large parts of the US that are mostly depopulated (think central Alaska or North Dakota). Get a cabin out there- where there's no one around for a hundred miles. Live off the land as a hermit. Then you have your "true freedom". If you want to live in a society however… with other people? Yeah… you're gonna have to put up with some cops.
