+61 People need to dress better and take care of themselves, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Even if I know you I don't care. My life, I'm going to dress comfy and I really don't care if you care. I only get to live once.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

i care when i'm at an event. why should i care about the opinions of strangers who happen to walk past me in a tesco?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Why am I suppose to care what other people think about how I choose to dress? Life isn't a group project. I'll dress how I want, when I want and if you don't like it, either mind your business and move along or find someone who cares what you think. Seems simple enough to me.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

From now on I'm only dressing up as Adam Sandler in the off chance I'll run into OP at Walmart.

by HomeConscious8841 2 days ago

All i can think about now is this but with dressing up like Adam Sandler.

by Reilly49 2 days ago

I kinda love that I have the power to piss you off without even thinking about it just by wearing whatever. I mean it seems sad for you but it's amusing to me NGL

by SheepherderMaster 2 days ago

And then you have me confused with about roughly 20 same shirts just different materials or pocket/no pocket and 5 pairs of the same pants. At least I wear steel-toe shoes if OP wants to try to mouth me. You might think I'm inferring something, but it's just part of my fit.

by Rare-Stop-7570 2 days ago

The word you're looking for is insinuate. The speaker insinuates, the listener infers.

by AlternativeMoose7389 2 days ago

Exactly. There are lots of other places to look, if you're choosing to focus on me then that's your God damn problem!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But you're giving OP the ick! 🤣

by Anonymous 2 days ago

no I dress however I want. Who's looking for your approval?

by uptonleonardo 2 days ago

Right? OP said it "gives them the ick." Do they think everyone is out here trying to impress them? Some of us just want to do our shopping in peace and go home.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This peach of a person gets the ick and you say no? How heartless!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Is it a fashion runway show or a wedding or a gala no it's groceries

by Judeblick 2 days ago

It's not punctuation either, apparently

by Away_Activity 2 days ago

That's awesome. Nice co workers!

by Open-Amphibian 2 days ago

Why though. Apart from functionality. As in protection from the elements, movement etc. The only reason that anyone should care further to improve on their ability to dress well. Is for aesthetics. Chasing aesthetics is an endless race. The only winner being the clothing companies.

by emilianokassulk 2 days ago

Are you volunteering to pay for everyone's 'five to seven good quality pants and a dozen or so shirts' OP? If not, wind your neck in.

by brando84 2 days ago

Am I supposed to care what you think?

by Technical_Macaron 2 days ago

I'm buying milk not at a wedding As long as it's clean clothes, Brushed teeth and deodorant. Idgaf what someone wears while shoppingv

by Old-Association-4951 2 days ago

Why do you think your preferences are so important? I don't like beards on men, but I have never said to any man that he shouldn't have a beard because that would make me like looking at him more. That's basically what you are saying, you don't like looking at people in relaxed clothing, so they should change so you get to look at what you prefer. Ridiculous at best.

by Darion34 2 days ago

Some people do like well-groomed beards though, I don't think you're gonna argue some people love seeing oversized t-shirts, sweatpants and flip flops.

by Scary_Routine 2 days ago

That's not the point. The point is it doesn't matter what I think when it has to do with someone else's body. It's not my body, therefore I have no right to say anything.

by Darion34 2 days ago

That's so obviously not true. You couldn't go outdoors naked.

by Scary_Routine 2 days ago

Im dressing as comfortable as I want on my days off around and about. Nobody pays my bills and I got nobody to impress.

by Smithamgladys 2 days ago

Like I know this is rage bait BUT Why are you so worried about other people? How is someone wearing something comfortable mean that they don't take care of themselves?

by NoNet2173 2 days ago

It's not rage bait. Some people hold this opinion.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This is so stupid. I will dress up in clean appropriate clothes for work. But if it's Sunday and I need to run to the grocery store? I'll throw on a jacket and flipflops and go to the store. I'm out of there in 5 minutes. I'm really not sorry if my pyjama pants offend you.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Nah id say the bigger problem is weight. Too many fatties walking around.

by Actual_Attempt 2 days ago

Why should someone not care about how others perceive them?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The opinion is fine, but they were very condescending about the opinion. Saying things like it gives them the ick is icky itself

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Seven pairs of pants, are you crazy? Are you doing my laundry, guy?

by Specific-Nose-9228 2 days ago

And buying my house with a closet big enough?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You know you don't have to wash 7 pairs of pants a week just because you own them, right? The amount of laundry should not change lol. Kinda baffled as to how you think it would

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You should not be getting this worked up over some sweatpants and flip flops at aldis…

by Street-Chocolate-567 2 days ago

What a shallow thing to judge people on

by noahdare 2 days ago

Judging someone on how they choose to present themselves is not shallow. It's a reflection of personality, and that's like the least shallow thing to judge someone on.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Why do you care what people wear? Worry about yourself.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Nobody is seeking your approval, or cares about your "ick".

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Like that's fine that it's giving you the ick, I'm not dressing for you. I'm dressing to go get groceries. I've worn my grubbies to go to the doctor. I legit don't care. If it's not something important where I need to look presentable like jury duty or like going out to eat or something like that, I'm not going to give up comfort in a pair of leggings/sweat pants and the random pro-wrestling shirt. Also have you considered that the two pairs of pants and couple ill fitting shirts is all they can afford? I work with people who literally can only shop at Goodwill because clothes in general, fast fashion or not, are giga expensive. I'm not dropping $80 for a pair of jeans. That's not happening.

by Kochjamel 2 days ago

This is because you're now the older generation who thinks the younger gen are living wrong. They are dressing fashionably to impress their peers, not you. Sweats, crocs & socks are in fashion and they arent cheap either. So in that sense, maybe you should take more care of yourself?

by Simple-Educator-6794 2 days ago

If I am on my period and needing to run to the store for more pads, I don't give a single F if some weirdo is raging out over my sweatpants and t-shirt I got at a 5K un 6 years ago. I clean up when it matters, and at that point I am clearly not feeling well. If I can mind my own business, why can't you?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

And how people dress affects you how?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Because it gives them the ick and makes them realize the world doesn't care about their opinions

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Repeat the following to yourself every morning: "Other people don't exist to decorate my life."

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You care way too much about what other people wear. I'd like to believe the majority of people don't even notice what strangers are wearing, let alone care to the point of getting the "ick". Also, nobody cares about your disapproval.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Living rent free in your head, and I dont even know who you are.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You must live in Austin, Texas.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

"the ick" 😂😂🤣😅

by gleasonsyble 1 day ago

I like many others adamantly disagree. Which makes this a truly unpopular opinion. Well done

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's not really a concern to me what you think about me. I have 4 kids and a physically demanding job, I'm coming into a store either wearing what I just left work in, or whatever I'm comfortable in. Not to impress you.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm glad I don't know you

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How are you? Are you OK? How do you go out? The world outside must be very harsh for you ya?

by Rahul65 1 day ago

I wear the same pair of pants all week to work, even sweating my ass off in them. As a grown ass man, I've never cared what another grown ass adult wore....take your ick

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maybe I have 6 pairs of the same shirt and jeans? So it looks like I wear the same one but I don't.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Comfort over style always.

by PangolinPerfect 1 day ago

everyone is a creep. even at dunkin donuts today this old man was watching me get up and walk out. i had to get in front of my man to hide. i just hate being looked at by creeps no matter what i wear

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm a mum to a 10 month old baby, I'm lucky if I get time to run a brush through my hair let alone plan an elaborate outfit for the day, I'm in my joggers and a baggy tshirt and nobody is going to tell me to dress otherwise!!

by Defiant_Succotash 1 day ago

I'm the coworker who wears the same chinos and hoodie everyday. I'm there for one purpose only.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

So you want people to buy clothes they don't like, to go to a place they don't like, to make people they don't like, happy?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well it doesn't sound like what they're doing now is making them happy, maybe some outside advice would help.

by Scary_Routine 1 day ago

What tf do I care what someone else is wearing 😭

by sebastian37 1 day ago

Why does OP care so much about what other people wear?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Have you tried not looking at other people and focusing on yourself and your own errands instead? It will do wonders

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is a reflection/mirror of your own insecurities of your own appearance

by Possible-Value 1 day ago

I agree. ☝️ some people look like absolute slobs. I mean context matters of course, and I love a comfy day. But when I dress comfy I do a put together look. Not baggy, ill fitting clothes that I've worn 3 days in a row. And it doesn't piss me off to see folks dress sloppy. It's just a bit of an eyesore. Plus, y'all make us look better :P

by hansenbrandi 1 day ago

I work 70 hours a week and haven't had a vacation since we were shut down for Covid. Maybe mind your own business.

by CardiologistTrick 1 day ago

I agree honestly

by rosendo01 1 day ago

People that don't dress like you feel like, gives you the ick? Really?

by RevolutionaryArt4103 1 day ago

You seem to have missed the overarching point.

by EnvironmentalMove 1 day ago

Wear a 3 piece suit to go get some ice cream.

by Unlucky_Battle 1 day ago

Why do I need to dress up for you when I go shopping? My baggy pants and t shirt is my go to grocery outfit

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Genuinely unpopular opinion at last! Take my updoot with many thanks, OP!!

by Ullrichmaurice 1 day ago

If you can find me 5-7 different pairs of pants that fit me properly and look professional I will buy them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean personally I don't like to leave the house without real shoes on and clothes that aren't destroyed but I will be in crocs and pajamas if I am going to be out of the house for a short amount of time. Regardless, I don't think much about what someone else wore to the store unless we're talking about Cookie Monster pajamas with some questionable stains.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't think it is ever a problem if the person smells good and is properly groomed. I dress whatever makes me feel comfortable so yeah sweatpants and flip flops for the win!

by blickmorton 1 day ago

As long as they're clean and covered where appropriate, why do you care? It literally doesn't impact you in the slightest.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I am guessing the people you are complaining about really don't give a damn

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is why I wear a tuxedo everywhere I go, and nothing less than a sports coat and dress pants when I'm at home relaxing

by Hershel66 1 day ago

Hard to tell if it's fashion independence or a cry for help. Autocorrect is a plague on mankind. Tried to capitalize independence and change or to of. It's a hindrance, not a help

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How do you dress?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Tailored 3 piece suit, always. Anything less gives them the ick

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's my life

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Nobody cares what you think. EAD.

by Queasy-Implement 1 day ago

I bet you don't even look good in whatever you wear too.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Loving the response to this. What a shallow, unnecessarily demanding sentiment. Let people be comfortable. Glad to know you're against fast fashion, so you genuinely want people to spend a lot of money on something as superficial as clothes. Saying "gives me the ick" for something so harmless gives me the ick lol

by Medaschmitt 1 day ago

Life is difficult enough, I'd hate to make extra effort that would also cost me more money and make me sacrifice my comfy outfits, so it's trouble³

by Anonymous 1 day ago

i use to care but doesnt matter. does hating someone else's decision on what they wear going to get you closer to making a million dollars?

by Hopeful-Teacher3853 1 day ago

I'd understand if you were angry that people weren't dressing up for events but you can't seriously expect people to dress up to go grocery shopping lol

by russrice 1 day ago

the fact that you care this much about what people wear to go grocery shopping is genuinely unhinged and instantly invalidates anything else you might have to say about any other clothing choices of other people. grocery shopping is an annoying chore, not a work event. i'm not there to impress, i'm there to get food and get out without getting too pissed at the people around me who have zero spatial awareness and have loud conversations on speaker. i'm not looking to be in restrictive clothing when i'm trying to push a loaded cart. also, most people own a washing machine. as long as they're not dirty/smelly and are actually clothed you have absolutely no reason to care what they wear.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I know I do.

by gleichnereddie 1 day ago

The way you wrote this was antagonizing but I agree. There are comfy clothes that are cute/put together. People wear pjs to the grocery store quite a bit of the time now. Seems like a leftover from Covid that isn't changing.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This seems more personal, how would you know if this were my only pair of trousers.

by Icy-Beautiful 1 day ago

So not only do I get to wear clothes that are more comfortable, but people will then leave me alone because of it? That's like finding a real life cheat code.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

If I'm going somewhere that warrants a good outfit, I'll wear one and I have enough clothing to do so and mix things up. If I'm going to Walmart or chick fil a or something, I'm wearing what's comfortable

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lol I have two opinions here. I went to beauty school so I have it burned into my brain that appearance is everything. I don't own any sweats or anything like that. I won't even go to the grocery store without some makeup and making sure my hair is styled. That being said, it's also none of my business what people are wearing. I don't judge anybody. And neither should you.

by maximus81 1 day ago

5-7 "good pairs of pants and polos" maybe im being too picky, but im pretty sure not everyone prefers the "I just walked off the golf course" look

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Must be an American problem? I rarely see someone dress this sloppy going outside

by Anonymous 1 day ago

But I don't like being stared at or being hit on in public. If I wear baggy clothes and don't brush my hair, I have found this pretty much never happens. I prefer winter when I can wear baggy clothes and hide the shape of my body. Why should I care what random people think of me? I would make the effort for work or a social outing, but not for going to the shops.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The way other people dress does not affect you in anyway shape or form. You've got some serious mental issues that need to be discussed with a therapist if you are really that upset about how strangers dress.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Five to seven pants bro

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The pandemic normalized athleisure in the workplace and I'm ok with it

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No one owes you anything wrt how they dress, grow up. or you know, actually get some money and move to a rich neighberhood if you want people in kahkis and polo's around you ;p

by Jovangaylord 1 day ago

I was with you until you mentioned the ick, then you lost all credibility. That nonsense needs to leave the vernacular asap.

by gleasonxzavier 1 day ago

does it matter? no. it doesnt. at all. people who wear for comfort above style and everything else has my respect: they know whats actually important in life, and looking good isnt one of them.

by Stehrhaylee 1 day ago

This reeks of main character syndrome when you're not even a background character to everyone else

by stromanlou 1 day ago

You buying these clothes for us?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't mind if people dress like slobs out in public, it just makes me look 100 times better than them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I was with you until the bit about the flip-flops

by Anonymous 1 day ago

i'm going to continue to wear ‘sloppy' clothes when just doing errands or running to the shop for something quick. i'm a 23 year old uni student in the height of exams and deadlines, i could not care less about the clothes im wearing and i definitely do not care about how other people see me. when im in my ‘sloppy' clothes, i don't want to be seen

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You judging other people's outfits is the biggest ick of all time.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Ever considered maybe some people can't afford many nice pairs of clothes? Maybe that guy at the office wearing the same two pair of pants is doing so because it's all he can afford…

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I want to be comfortable. If you have a problem with that, then just don't look at me.

by SplitAcademic 1 day ago

I'm not quite sure why anyone else's dress sense concerns you so much. Pretending that ick is you looking out for their wellbeing doesn't make it any better. Know what I do when I see someone doing a quick shop in sweatpants? I just look past them as I would anyone else and go back to doing what I went there to do. You know, shop?

by Moorevilma 1 day ago

Come on, lots of folks already have to dress up for work and many other things. Let them have the comfort of sweatpants and flip flops when they get their damn groceries.

by Anonymous 1 day ago
