Flies are worse than wasps is... certainly a take?

Its just about how persistent they are, i hate having to swat away a fly every 5 seconds if i want to eat in a park. Wasps tend to go away when you wave them off.

I can kinda get behind you. But this part I dont agree with. If you have any type of meat at that picnic, those wasps arent gonna leave you alone.

Ah to be fair I never had to deal with wasps and meat, most of the time they just come up to me if i have something sweet like jam out.

I have been literally just randomly stung every time they've been around me whether I react or not so...I do think they're jerks and just do what they want. Often times I don't even know they're around and bam stung multiple times in one spot and have to be on the way to get medical treatment. But I'm also allergic and do have a nest currently forming at my front door so I guess I'm allowed to be upset about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well, there is that, and the fact that wasps are agro friendly. They can be assholes at times but are otherwise good for the environment.

I very much regret reading this

I swear we really need to reinforce the difference between anecdotal experience and proper generalization 🙄

I tend to agree. Aside from yellow jackets, I've never had a bad interaction with bees or wasps. Allergic reactions aside, I'm on your side.

A single yellowjacket is different than a nest. Yellowjacket behavior near the nest is totally different than their behavior while foraging for food. I had them make a nest under some garden steps a couple of years ago. I naively decided to live an let live, but I quickly learned that yellowjacket wasps are outrageously aggressive if you are near their nest. They will swarm you just for walking by. There is none of this "just swipe the little fellow away and they'll understand." It isn't like that. Dozens of them will attack you at once, and they will sting repeatedly anything part of you they can get to. Bees can only sting once, but yellow jackets can keep on stinging. Especially bad if one gets in your shirt sleeve or in your sock. Take a few stings and you can get a rash that will last for a month or more even if you aren't allergic. If you had ever been anywhere near a nest, you would know that the only good yellowjacket is a dead yellowjacket. I do not mind paper wasps or bees though.
