This is actually pretty deep, and a little scary too. Add "nonspecialized for now, but the others are coming too", and I suggest it'd be a prediction.

And rid us of the cotton jim, the auto loom, and sterling engine. More meanial labor for all. Pick your cotton in the field. Put children back to the work making cloth. Bring back oxen to turn our mills. We can push our labor pool to do bigger and greater things or entrench ourselves in the past.

sure but a huge portion of us will suffer immensely because we can't exactly pivot to "bigger and greater things" so easily, and we'll only get poorer

You know, funny you mention those old-timey innovations. Do you even realize how many jobs an early textile mill could provide to a town? Just one? It's a lot. So many unique niches for a person to have specialized in. How many niches can someone specialize in with AI? None - okay, maybe a handful - because the AI will replace their labor entirely. Unlike previous innovations, AI is singularly reducing the necessary labor force, rather than enlarging it.

Funny though how those who hate it the most say it's crap and useless.
