+55 Dessert is not a normal part of a meal that should be regularly eaten, amirite?

Well, fruit has fiber which helps slow the release of sugars into the blood. So it isn't the same as added sugar in processed food

Have you ever seen fruit on a dessert menu at a restaurant that wasn't prepped in an unhealthy way?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Fruit isn't dessert

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My family eats fruit as dessert almost every day.

Dessert is not a phase of a meal. This is factually incorrect. A "three course meal" consists of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. It is literally a phase of a meal. That doesn't mean we should all eat it every day, but saying it's not a real thing is just false.

I would rather have appetizer, soup and entree than dessert really.

More of a salad guy myself, but yeah I can skip dessert without missing it too.

Are people out there regularly eating a dessert as a part of their meals? Is fruit not a dessert? I am confused by this

by Excellent_Future 1 day ago

I've known several people who basically ate dessert every single time we ever had dinner, even insisting we go get ice cream or a kit kat or skittles or something after the meal if there was no dessert.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Huh no way. I don't think I've ever met anyone like that

by Excellent_Future 1 day ago

My whole family , didn't realise it wasn't normal until my 20s. Now I have a sugar addiction so bad I need multiple treats a day

Hey the world sucks enough already, keep your nose and eyes on your own plate 🤙

Reading this take is an unhealthy behavior.

I'm very fit and I eat desert every day. It's not normal for YOU.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Same. As someone who recovered from an eating disorder, eats dessert every day and is perfectly healthy, this seems a bit too general and judgemental.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There are no foods "devoid of any nutrition" and having a dessert every day will not kill you nor have any major impact on your health/body.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How is this unpopular?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Is that true though?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Oh those sound yummy lol

26ish grams of sugar per day is the healthy recommendation. It's 100 percent possible to reserve that allocation for dessert every day, keep within the sugar levels, and even be in a caloric deficit to LOSE weight if planned properly. Yes, a lot of people don't do that properly and over indulge, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE should limit their dessert intake just because others can't do it properly.

by Unusual_Duty 1 day ago

Nobody is suggesting that "everyone should limit" anything this is just an opinion that people tend to eat too much dessert lol.

I don't know anyone who regularly, actively eats dessert. People usually do eat dessert type foods sparingly. If I'm at a restaurant and they have a unique dessert, I'll probably get it. Otherwise, I don't eat dessert at home.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Me neither, we only do it if we have people over. Never had anything like this growing up either.

I'm usually thirsty from the evil sun drying me out all day so I drink for a dessert. I used to eat desserts a lot bc I have a huge sweet tooth but it made me fat and bloated

by beahanlori 1 day ago

Daily dessert isn't normal, it's just what we've been sold. Sugar culture is wild.

by Reillyrenee 1 day ago

Begone from me, health nut! Not only is dessert an essential part of the meal, sometimes it IS the meal! 😁

by FlyRevolutionary7361 1 day ago

Definitely, people are fat as it is.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You can eat dessert without getting fat. There's healthy desserts like fruit

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Fruit, nature's candy!
