I got nukes covered for you, bud. Matter is just a form of energy, hence E=mc2. By breaking the bonds of matter, one can release that energy. A nuclear bomb simply breaks those atomic bonds to release the energy explosively. Also, for consciousness, why does there have to be a why? We happen to get a chance to actively appreciate our existence, and there's no reason to believe there's any kind of deep meaning behind it. In my opinion there's nothing to understand. Just appreciate that we got what we got.
