+63 Hero shooters would be better without healer roles, amirite?

by Agitated_Reporter 2 days ago

I enjoy playing the healer, its the most action packed in my opinion. The other team tries to kill me first and I have to survive and keep the rest of the team alive.

Same. And when you can swoop in, heal people, and they get the victory for your team, you feel amazing. Like the whole thing rested on you for a minute, and you did the damn thing

This is the unpopular opinion

I agree! I want supports. I want hero's that can buff or debuff not just heal. Get rid of healing on supports, give them more interesting mechanics and I think hero shooters would be better for it

i like being a healer. plus the dependence and vulnerability of the hero needing a healer is definitely a fair way to balance out the roles. hero may be the end all be all, but theyre nothing without a healer to keep them doing so.

Tell me you only play dps without telling me you only play dps.

Agreed I like healing characters but damn are they bad for a game

Have you played marvel Rivals? Healer and dps are picked first. Tank is last 9/10 games

Or, make them limited, but still impactful TF2 medic worked great

So what you're saying is you want to get shredded? Without a healer unless medkits are everywhere then one wrong move means you get shredded with very little way to recover.

Or hero's could be built with more personal survivability on cooldown

by Agitated_Reporter 2 days ago

So then why would you play tank? If everyone had survivability roles then literally everyone would just be a hybrid class. At that point why have classes. (Not saying it cant work, obviously it can and has, but in class based shooters it goes against the genre)

Dude, queue times for supports in overwatch 2 have been like 15 minutes lately, with other roles only 1-2 minutes. It's a team based game, you're allowed to not like every role but that doesn't make the role itself the problem and it's clearly very popular among the players Without healers, you effectively lose the specializations of ALL roles. Tanks, with their large hitboxes, aren't able to soak up damage while also contributing to the fight, and DPS with more survivability run the risk of either just turning into lite tanks or being too easy to kill if there's an enemy with a significantly higher skill level. Having a dedicated support/healer role gives the team an opportunity to close the physical skill gap, as it is a role often more heavy on game sense and positioning than aim.
