+60 UFC is boring and a complete waste of time, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

this is fair. same problem with the NBA. 6 different champs in the last 6 years. Superstars always at risk of switching teams every 3 years. No consistency in branding or superstar buildup. Even non-sports ppl know Kobe's Laker Jersey or Brady's Patriots jersey - form them doing it for 20 years, same team. Super hard to get that consistency in today's environment. Parity is good to a point.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Joshua Van Diego Lopes CHIWIWIS? Raul Rosas!? Paddy Pimblett All these kids are the next generation of stars if things keep going on the same trajectory for them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Only Van has real potential, and I'm a huge Lopes fan

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Listen man I was all about writing paddy off but we can't say he doesn't have real potential

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There are stars. Not being undefeated =/= not a star. I dislike Omalley but he can very easily get his title back and defend it several times. Stars are what you make of them.

by Nia67 1 day ago

Not with merab there

by Far_Hovercraft 1 day ago

One of the things that killed it for me was how much time there was between fights.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

If the fight goes the distance its like 5 minutes before they are queuing up the next one. They are on a schedule if the fight ends early

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Great point made here. The following fighters and their teams are prepping. They know when to arrive and be ready. Stick to the schedule. Swimming and Track and Field do the same thing.

by PlasticDark 1 day ago

How do you mean exactly? As in the commercial breaks and analyzing in between each individual bout? Or time in between cards?

by Ornery_Big 1 day ago

Well on TV you see video packages, conversations between the announcers, LONG fighter walkouts and the announcer reading their entire biographies in the ring... I think it's honestly like 10 to 15 minutes between the end of one fight and the bell of the next one. I assume in the arena they're cleaning the octagon but I don't know what else. The other guy said they have a set time slot where that give each fight enough time to go the distance and if it ends early they just stall so maybe that's it. But it was one thing that made it too much of a pain to watch for me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

watching it with friends, I like the long gaps between fights because we can talk, drink, smoke while that's going on

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is probably the least annoying thing about the UFC. They're honestly really quick in comparison to some boxing events.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

and then the fight ends in 40 seconds, followed by 25 minutes of nothingness

by No-Donkey-2184 1 day ago

Don't watch Boxing then haha.

by Emmalee84 1 day ago

Do you have tiktok brain?

by Nia67 1 day ago

Fighters need appropriate time to warm up. If a fight ends early u can't just send out the next 2 fighters they need to get a quick sweat goin. Honestly UFC doesn't take forever between fights considering how much is a stake for these fighters...

by True-City 1 day ago

I haven't watched it in years so they may have changed the amount of time. Fighters do want to warm-up but even then they know when they're up next and the fight before them will max out at 15 minutes so they should at least know when to start getting ready. But I don't know exactly why the UFC did that, as was said they may just have a set start time for each fight and stall out if the previous fight ends early.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

But it still makes it more boring to watch.

by Leading_Start 23 hours ago

It's not boring... But it's the same kind of "boring" people call baseball or soccer (football to everyone else besides Americans and Australians). It's a couple moments of excitement with extended minutes of build up attacks.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

As a UFC fan from the beginning, I've found it becoming less exciting mainly because everyone has similar skill sets. The days of kickboxer vs wrestler, or judo vs BJJ, are long over, but that skill difference made the early days very exciting. Even into the early 2000s, while guys were becoming more rounded fighters, they had foundations in a particular discipline. Most of the active fighters today have trained MMA their entire lives.

by Impressive_Math 23 hours ago

He promotes the hell out of it because he's a douche bag. It's an absurd spectacle that results in every single person ending up with a brain injury.

by Titocrist 23 hours ago

It's the antithesis of ‘protect yourself at all times' I can't see how any fight fan could support it, especially the person who owned the UFC

by friedrichsimoni 23 hours ago

No one who cares cares

by Shot_Row_872 22 hours ago

Imagine paying for UFC

by Calm-Earth7394 22 hours ago

It's also a MAGA thing now.

by Anonymous 22 hours ago

Yeah, it kinda pushes you away from the sport.

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

Its MAGA because trump likes it and so people jumped on the MAGAxUFC train. But tbh if hitler liked basketball id still like basketball.

by Orland05 21 hours ago

Maga and brain damage = match made in heaven

by Glad_Pie 21 hours ago

You people are absolutely obsessed

by RealMembership 20 hours ago

Idk the whole "keep politics out of sports" people suddenly quiet on this

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Politics should be kept out of everything that has nothing to do with politics. Including MMA

by RealMembership 20 hours ago

Then you could say complaining it's a MAGA thing is justifiable then. Instead you decided to complain to a person that they were obsessed.

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

I completely agree. I disagree with Dana White's and Joe Rogan's politics, but I'm a fan of the sport, so I want to see the sport Sometimes it backfires for them though, like when Colby Covington got his arse handed to him in front of Trump

by EmploymentOk3069 19 hours ago

Check out One fighting on Amazon prime. Totally different vibe, the fighters are respectful and there's not much if any of the "wrasslin" aspect that UFC.

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

I generally do prefer One championship Muay Thai over any form of mma

by EmploymentOk3069 19 hours ago

ONE FC is superior strictly because of the Muay Thai

by RealMembership 19 hours ago

Couldn't agree more

by EmploymentOk3069 18 hours ago

Agreed, I'm a UFC fan for the MMA but it has gotten Trumpy

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

Oh no how awful. Anyway...

by TechnicalChard9765 18 hours ago

Magats are a blight. Can't wait for those cheeseburgers to do their work on donnie. I'll be throwing a nice BBQ to celebrate.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

Sounds like they live rent free in ur head

by Impressive_Cat 17 hours ago

Where are the epstien files that your pedophile cult leader won't release?

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

Not my cult leader. He should release them, and he looks awful for not doing so

by Impressive_Cat 17 hours ago

it's funny how defensive people get when you say something true and it eats away at them. this person didn't once claim to be on either side of the coin, just that you let them live rent free lol. it's funny that the blues think their "people" aren't going to show up on those logs too. careful now

by Nia67 16 hours ago

I mean they're a critical threat to world peace, so why shouldn't they?

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

Because I go outside

by Impressive_Cat 16 hours ago

So you go outside, and see nothing. Got ya.

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

"Critical threat to world peace". Please I beg of you touch some grass on occasion.

by Ziemannvanessa 15 hours ago

That's literally the best you guys have is "touch grass". It's pathetic. Were you at the ICE raids? Were you there when the bombs dropped in Iran? When's the last time you even travelled outside the U.S?

by Anonymous 15 hours ago

They definitely do. WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN THERE IS NO CORRECT SIDE. They ALL hate us, end of discussion. No matter who is in office, we all lose

by Rozella82 15 hours ago

Not AIPAC. AIPAC wins.

by Impressive_Cat 15 hours ago

Won't be disputing that lol

by Rozella82 14 hours ago

Go touch grass

by TechnicalChard9765 14 hours ago

Sport and Politic should not mingle

by ActualBed 14 hours ago

People watch sports. People have political beliefs.

by TechnicalChard9765 13 hours ago

It is but that's not really a reason to not watch it if you're a fan. It's kinda hilarious to me how much pride Trump gets from guys with maximum CTE being his biggest fans. Just laugh at it and enjoy the sport.

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

Meh

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

Hmmm. I dont totally disagree. As someone who has trained mma and boxing, I'd honestly rather watch boxing.

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

I feel the same about any sport, whether football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey. All sports are boring and a waste of time. But other people have the right to enjoy them.

by Jenningsolson 12 hours ago

Combat sports are a waste of brain cells

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

You don't know the pain of being a British UFC fan. Staying up until 5am just to watch the main card

by EmploymentOk3069 12 hours ago

That's sounds awful lol. Im not really a ufc fan but alot of my friends r, I just don't want to be out that late or have ppl at my house that late

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

We make a night of it. Have the boys over, beers and wings, stay up to watch the card

by EmploymentOk3069 11 hours ago

Unfortunately this isn't an unpopular opnion... it's always been a boring waste of time.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

Grossing a billion dollars says otherwise

by Camillegulgowsk 11 hours ago

It's boring because there aren't guys throwing chairs and having actual serious beef with each other outside the octagon. Not every fight is gonna be like Khabib/Conor, Wanderlei/Sonnen, etc you get the point. The fights are still entertaining, even the pre lims are nice and those are FREE!

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

It's soft core gay porn for "straight" men.

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

It's also less skillful than boxing.

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

This is simply incorrect

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

This is incorrect

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

Wrong, way more skillful

by Dependent-Photo6052 10 hours ago

An MMA fighter can't even touch a boxer in the ring. They're nothing but brawlers. The second you get a boxer in there he'll dance around them.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

This is how we know you don't know anything about MMA lol. James Tony was a multiple time Champion boxer and fought in the UFC one time. He got choked out in the first round by a 47 year old Randy Couture.

by Mammoth-Objective122 9 hours ago

Choking isn't skillful.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

Lmao, wrestling and BJJ aren't skillful? You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Go down to your local BJJ gym and ask to roll with someone your size. You'll see exactly how skillful it is.

by Mammoth-Objective122 8 hours ago

This has to be rage bait lmao

by EmploymentOk3069 8 hours ago

Watch Ngannou vs Fury then 🤣

by Camillegulgowsk 8 hours ago

it's just a couple of sweaty dudes rolling on the floor hugging each other

by Total-Tailor 7 hours ago

Have you trained in any martial arts?

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

The only part of this opinion I take issue is the slight at pro wrestling, which is way more entertaining than UFC.

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

I can only watch them after the fact where I can speed through the downtime. There's so much downtime….

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

I do think that if you dont train or know much about MMA or martial arts in general, I can see why people find it more boring nowadays as the sport has evolved to become much more technical than it was in say the Chuck Lidell days where strikers were mostly brawlers (ofc there were outliers), but I will say a lot of the cards this year have had really solid fights, 314 was a banger card, 317 was entertaining throughout

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

Zero interest in combat sports but out of South African patriotic pride, I watch all of Dricus du Plessis' matches.

by Mistyblanda 6 hours ago

I still love the sport and once the fight starts I'm loving it. As an overall product I do feel UFC has fallen off a bit and has become over saturated, but I still really enjoy the sport itself.

by tomasa12 6 hours ago

It's funny. I legit miss the Pride days where it was more like wrestling with the pumped up star factor and lavish walkouts.

by Key_Syrup 6 hours ago

I hate all the trash talking, I just want to see hoof fights, I dont care about the rest.

by kuhicethyl 5 hours ago

I used to photograph it. Quite intense as everyone is shouting at the ring/back of your head. Got some great shots tbf.

by Brenden77 5 hours ago

Also is it just me or were the stars cooler and had more personality back in the day? Cro Cop,Chuck Lidell, BJ Penn, Diaz Brothers, GSP, Anderson Silva Part of it is the generic uniform that they have forced everyone to wear. Now it's just a bunch of interchangeable Dagestani and MAGA dudes

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

It's also EXTREMELY homoerotic. Nothing wrong with that at all. If you love watching nearly naked men doing homoerotic things with each other, more power to you.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

There's less trash talking now than ever Recent cards have been absolute bangers We don't pay for PPV on the seven seas This is a bad take

by Latter_Perspective 4 hours ago

Im starting to get bored of it. Just the same thing in the same venues.

by barton29 4 hours ago

More sports takes from non athletes.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

Same as boxing

by BotherLivid7883 4 hours ago

Yes, SOMEONE SAID IT!!!!! PRIDE was the GOAT, UFC can suck a dick!

by Leather-Salary 3 hours ago

UFC is literally run by the same board of directors as WWE currently.

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

Don't ever pay for ufc nights

by kerlukewillis 3 hours ago

The UFC has had a severe quality decline pretty much since Conors peak. I maintain the MMA from 2003-2013 was the most exciting sport I've ever followed. Today I agree with you.

by EcstaticPositive477 3 hours ago

It was good, when there were 3-4 ppvs per year and the fights were huge. Now there is an event every weekend and I just don't care.

by Thurmanankundin 2 hours ago

Also imo grappling is quite boring compared to striking and it's mainly grappling

by Super-Space-8056 2 hours ago

Combat sports has been "pro wrestling" levels of promotion forever. You think Muhammad Ali is an icon only because of his in ring skills? But yes, current ufc sucks. I can't speak for other mma orgs.

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

ONE fights are way, way, more entertaining. I'd argue that the ONE fighters are better than the UFC fighters, too.

by Fair-Effect 2 hours ago

It's real life dude. It's not always going to be the most exciting thing in the world. It's not easy to spot a GSP or Anderson Silva. Sometimes you get boring fighters that become champions that also have zero personality.

by kochlillie 1 hour ago

I watched a documentary about it called Fighting in the Age of Loneliness that made it seem much more interesting than actually watching it live

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

Just a couple of dudes trying to hump each other. Boring AF.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

"Things is don't personally like are a waste of time."

by Ok_Act 55 minutes ago

Every match of it I've ever seen is about 30 seconds of two guys trading kicks and punches. Then the next 95% of the 'fight' is those two guys with each others heads in the other's crotch or armpit writhing around on the floor. It's the most homoerotic crap I've ever seen and makes me wonder sincerely if it's all just some way for curious otherwise straight men who would sooner die than admit to that, to get their rocks off over it. It's closer to being some kink than any actual sport.

by Wooden-Delay 51 minutes ago

As someone who competed in BJJ for years that's my favorite part of it and I'm a straight married male. You might be projecting a bit…

by Anonymous 47 minutes ago

Hahahahaha what a clown take

by Terrillskiles 43 minutes ago

there might be something more going on here bud

by Responsible-Tie93 17 minutes ago

Yeah that's called grappling. And it's a style of martial arts.
