+59 Plain Coffee with Cream Is the Hardest Thing for Coffee Shops to Make Correctly, amirite?

by Adventurous_Row_5561 21 hours ago

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion because I don't think anyone cares about this.

Wild you'd say this, considering during my time in Europe it was a living hell finding a place to sell me a black coffee. No, not an americano, just a black coffee. I had to explain it to so many damn Costa employees, they couldn't fathom that I wanted JUST coffee and not a bunch of milk and froth and whatnot.

So an espresso?

by Bschoen 21 hours ago

No. lol. Coffee is not espresso. Why Europe won't understand that, I'll never know. It's not even the same bean, man. But yeah, had that asked many a time "you just want espresso?" No, dingwall, I want COFFEE.

Espresso is coffee....

by Bschoen 20 hours ago

Campari? Interesting. I've never heard of doing that but willing to give it a try. What ratio do you typically use?

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Double espresso in a cup, single shot in a second cup and pour until you're happy with the flavour. For me it's a full shot most mornings, but some days it just needs a touch. It's an old thing called a cafe coretto. It's not enough alcohol to do anything to you, and the flavour combo is great.

by Total_Engineer3987 20 hours ago

I'll give it a try! I was imagining American style drip coffee or even French press. But I can see it working well with a pour of espresso.

Coretto is usually grappa or brandy. No shade, I'm just saving my Campari for a Negroni

"Coffee is just nasty" is the real unpopular opinion here

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

Yyyeeeessssss!

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

Why do you go to such bad coffee shops?

by werner29 18 hours ago

If I understand correctly, coffee with cream is ….creamier.

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

Apparently less bitter too!

by mayerkarley 18 hours ago

And not as Black!

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

Why would you pay coffee shop prices for a simple coffee and cream.

by tomasalynch 18 hours ago

On the go?

by Constant_Mess 17 hours ago

Because they want coffee and they aren't at home....

by Bschoen 17 hours ago

I agree. I usually get a latte at coffee shops because I know the regular coffee is not worth it.

by Constant_Mess 17 hours ago

A latte or cortado is usually the better option.

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

While I absolutely agree, this is incredibly specific advice

by Margretshanahan 16 hours ago

Just giving OP good options

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

On the rare occasion I go to Starbucks and order a medium black coffee I can't tell if the baristas hate me or love me. Either way, I get coffee in a vessel and don't think much past that.

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

I'm a black coffee drinker. coffee temperature already seems calibrated toward cream in coffee. I always have to wait a long time to drink my coffee.

by Mysterious-Tree1125 16 hours ago

On the scale of the world, I reckon 'coffee with cream should exist' is a unpopular opinion. Milk sure I guess, but cream no.

by Similar-Community 16 hours ago

Coffee with cream is difficult cause you or the store makes crap coffee or uses crap beans

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

I think cream just tastes nasty

by Anonymous 15 hours ago

What do you do differently at home?

by Accurate_Iron 15 hours ago

You MUST be high.

by Wiegandelliot 14 hours ago

I'm not.
