+72 Ludicrously difficult videogames are unacceptable and should be called out as such, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

I don't enjoy difficult games, I barely have time to play and mostly play to relax. I wish there was some flag for this.

by Necessary-Reach 13 hours ago

i am also aganst difficult games, to the point where i will utterly refuse to buy any games that are too difficult. i want to play games for the story. NOT the gameplay. i couldnt care less about gameplay.

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

Then watch a movie?! What the hell

by Cassindana 13 hours ago

find me a movie that can exactly replicate diablo 2. find me a movie that exactly replicates final fantasy 6. see how stupid that sounds?

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

I'm the exact opposite couldn't care less about the story I only play games for the gameplay

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

Why are you so aggressive? From my perspective, you should be the one not playing games and watching movies but I'm not rude about it. Everyone's got different preferences. I like playing games while I'm on the phone with friends, just to pass the time and have something to fidget with. Sue me, geez. You've got anger issues, man.

Dark Souls is not "artificially difficult", it's one of the best examples of organic difficulty in gaming. That's why people like it so much, it isn't difficult for difficulties sake. Obviously a lot of people like that kind of challenge.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

wrong. its difficult for the sake of being difficult. it might be """organically""" difficult, but its still difficult all the same.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

yes i do. and i know im right. so do you. you can never decide if i know what im talking about or not. its up to me and me alone.

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

I can and will decide lol you have no idea what you're talking about.

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

prove that i dont. prove that dark souls is easy even for a complete noob. you cant.

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

The proof that you don't know what you're talking about is the words you wrote yourself, if you think Dark Souls is difficult for difficulties sake then you have obviously never even played the game because nobody who has will say that lol

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

the majority of people thinks dark souls is an unreasonably difficult game. thats why it stays a niche game genre. if they made it easy, they would make more money. i believe elden ring did that successfully.

I mean these days I don't think there are many "difficult because poor balance" games out there. Certainly not with bigger budgets. Back in the NES/SNES days, a lot of games were made really difficult so you couldn't beat them in one sitting. You'd need to keep coming back to retry and retry, which if it was a rental might mean you keep renting it. That's not really a concern these days. What would be a concern is a game that's so poorly balanced that nobody can beat it, which would lead them to return it (I dunno if consoles have returns for digital games, but Steam at least does). So generally if a game is really hard, it's properly balanced around being that hard. If that isn't what you want, that's fine. I know I bounced of Sekiro. But that just means you need to do a little bit of research before buying. Most deliberately difficult games tend to advertise their difficulty for those who are into that.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

then dont buy and play them lol

by Oharaisidro 9 hours ago

That's not the point.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

What's the point then? That nobody should enjoy them?

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

No, it's not the point. The point is that games that turn out to be hard due to poor programming and/or bad design (usually introducing glitches in the process) deserve the stick they get. I once had a large collection, now I have a small one.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

If having to "git gud" is the only way of actually enjoying a game, then it isn't worth playing - then again, I don't want a walk in the park with the Care Bears either.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Idk man I usually play games without much volume and listen to music they're more of like brainless activity I can do I don't play for story so harder gameplay is more engaging

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Yeah the problem is that most games "normal" difficulty these days is a "walk in the park with the care bears", as you put it. They are designed to be extremely easy then their idea of creating higher difficulties is just to make the enemies have more health and make you take more damage, it's so lazy and doesn't actually increase the difficulty it just takes more time.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Why do people think every game has to suit their preferences? You don't like difficult games? Don't buy difficult games.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

it is tho. there are people who enjoy trying to beat a game that is specifically made yo be hard to beat. you don't have to enjoy it but people who do have the right to have access to such games.

by Zoe44 7 hours ago

No, it's not the point. What fun is there in getting angry (and risking your health in the process) at a game? Furthermore, people who play games for fun and/or like to take it easy have the right not to be mocked or made fun of for playing on easier difficulties, as seems to be the norm in some circles.

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

Are you seriously going to keep on playing something that makes you angry? That's on you.

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

I'm not that stupid.

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

So what's the issue here? You don't like games that induce an artificial sense of difficulty. You therefore don't play those games. Not consuming a product you don't like is as vanilla as it gets.

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

The issue is - and I'll say it once more - games that are artificially difficult due to bad programming, poor design and/or are strewn with glitches and bugs (I'm looking at "SiN", "Superman 64" and "Bubsy 3D", just to name a few examples) deserve the stick they get.

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

The people who enjoy difficult games don't get angry at them. I know I don't. You don't have to play difficult games if that's not your thing.

by Careful-Risk4537 5 hours ago

It kind of is, you literally say in the title that difficult games are unacceptable.

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

It most definitely is. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Everyone else who does like it will buy it.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

No, it most definitely isn't. Games made deliberately hard through bad design and/or poor programming deserve all the flak they get.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

Know what the best way to do that is? Don't buy it. Seriously. If you don't like something, don't waste your time on it. If you are wasting your time on video games you don't even like, you really need to get your priorities straight. It's really that simple.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

I have. My once-large collection of about 300 games is now down to 30. It's only fair that people don't get ripped off.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

You bought 300 video games you don't like?

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

I accumulated them over the years, they were childhood classics - some I continued to play into my adolescence, while others were left by the wayside. In my adult years, I decided to get rid of the ones which had given me bad memories and/or were just too broken to finish without some form of cheating.

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

Yes, it is. People put TTOOONNNSSS of effort, years and development into making games. It simply might just not be for you. It's not like you can play every game that's released anyway. Go play something else. I don't like those games, so I don't buy them.

by Stephanspinka 3 hours ago

No, it's not the point. Badly designed and/or poorly coded games that result in stupidly hard gameplay and/or glitches deserve all the flak they get (just look at "Hunt Down the Freeman", "Bubsy 3D" and "Superman 64", just to name a few). I'm not stupid enough to play them, knowing they'll piss me off. "Tons of effort, years and development"? Maybe they should try actually making a complete game instead of half-assing it out the door and expecting patches and/or DLC to fix the rest.

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

Yup, just because you like to mindlessly faceroll doesn't mean everyone else should be forced to.

by Malinda99 2 hours ago

some of us like the challenge aspect

by cristoballind 2 hours ago

Is somebody forcing you to play these games? or do you know nothing of the games you're buying so you're unaware of the difficulty until after you start playing? I just don't understand what the issue is.

by dachkelley 2 hours ago

..... if the games make money than someone wants them even if it is not you, and thats fine you dont have to want everything but sometimes a person who is not you will have a lot of fun with a given game

by Odd_Fondant_957 2 hours ago

...then I seriously question their sanity, if they actually enjoy being driven to frustration. A bit like players who claim that playing "Doom" on the "Ultraviolence" difficulty is the only acceptable way to play - seriously.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

Really? Have you never done anything difficult in your life? Climbed a tall hill? Invested a lot of time in creating a work of art? Doing something hard is one of the best ways to feel alive!

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

Yes, I have. I've studied for (and obtained) a diploma in Japanese and written a novel (the latter burned me out and put me off writing for a long time, since I got a little in too deep). If someone asks me about my product, my experience, then I'm going to be honest about it.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

Some people like them, not everything needs to cater to you.

by korey84 1 hour ago

I don't expect anything to cater to me. Some people like playing games on an easy setting, and they have the right not to be mocked for it (which seems to be the norm in some parts of the gaming community) - if a game's hard by being poorly coded or badly designed, then it's a badly made game, end of.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

I have just the solution, then.
