"While people in the lower class practically have financial aid handed to them" Me after my financial aid gets recinded and I owe 6 thousand dollars. Im not gonna argue with some of your points cause some of them are true. But at the same time, some of them are very naive and false.

I make around $25,000usd(before taxes) a year and I live on my own and support myself. I dont know why my financial aid was rescinded. They didnt give me a reason and I dont think they have to. Im working on getting it repealed but if that doesnt work, I simply just owe 6 thousand dollars and all my college ambitions will be gone as well as the next 10 years of my life that will be slaved away paying this off.

Yes it is. Financial aid is not handed out to poor people as easily as you said it is. I hope this has changed your view on this.

lower class households do not "practically get financial aid handed to them". either this is rage bait or you're severely misinformed. my family was on the brink of homelessness for most of my childhood, and we are still poor today. we did not receive any financial aid and it was horrible. we barely survived. you did not have the worst, you had it significantly better than lower class.

Not trying to deny your experience, but you weren't given Pell Grants or any need based aid by the school(s) you were accepted to?

no we weren't unfortunately

Do you know if this is common?? Or are you the only person that you know of within your community that was rejected financial aid for school?? Do you know why you were rejected?? I'm open to having my mind changed.

You may be correct on the first part, but you simply went over the fact that most people who get rejected for financial aid is "because they make too much" financial aid is for people who do not make enough money therefore they get that financial aid. So if financial aid worked how it is supposed to, lower class people would get money handed to them.

I feel your frustration. But please listen to yourself. You got rejected, because your family makes too much, when in fact they don't make enough at all. I'm trying to redirect your frustration away from the poor people who have even less than you, and towards the people who made the decision that someone who's family can't afford community college should not qualify for financial aid.

It's definitely frustrating. Especially since there's a lot of middle class families where even if they make enough, they don't want to help support their children after they turn 18. Like who cares what my family makes, I'm not my parents. I don't have the funds myself to support a college education. It's so frustrating when I look at people my age going to university ESPECIALLY to get a degree that won't actually help them get a job while I'm here struggling to go to community college, the Walmart of colleges. I guess my place comes from a place of envy more so. I am mostly angry that the US which is the richest country in the world, won't even help me by paying 4K so I can get a degree to help my own country.

If you can't afford community college you're not middle class

My dad is a pharmacist so my family is supposed to be middle class but I guess not?
by SureWave1 day ago
I literally cannot understand what you are trying to say.

I think it'd be helpful to distinguish middle class and working class. Often they are referred to as the same thing, while some argue middle class is a myth entirely

The middle class definitely used to be a thing back in the day. My father is a pharmacist and my grandfather owned a construction company which built our house back then. My family definitely used to be middle class. But nowadays, if it weren't for my parents I would actually be homeless. No matter what, I will never be as successful as my parents, I will never be middle class on my own. I feel like most middle class children are definitely going to be considered "working class" since middle class is a thing of the past. Things are way too expensive nowadays.

Typical hating your fellow man instead of the system oppressing you, do better OP. Your mindset of "others have it so easy" doesn't help anyone, you just become bitter instead of actually addressing the cause of the issue. You are sour, I'd argue that blaming anyone or going "poor me" online is probably the worst thing you can do, what is gonna change, you argue with some people online? Hopefully you are very young...
