+78 There no reason for public bathrooms being gendered, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

If everyone used stalls, maybe I'd agree with you. But I'm not comfortable walking in and seeing a person with a penis using a urinal. I'm also uncomfortable in general being in a state of undress, even just to use the toilet, while one flimsy door with huge gaps is all that separates me from male-identifying individuals.

by lulu73 1 day ago

I can promise you that you can very easily avoid seeing penises when you're near a urinal.

by Low_City 1 day ago

Yeah urinals shall be abolished

A bare room with a giant piss hole in the floor for all the tough guys, allll the way over there. Single-toilet, handicap-accessible unisex bathooms for everyone else.

by Live-Advice-4202 1 day ago

If they were all cubicles then men would be forced to wait in the same queues women do.

by Sufficient-Gas 1 day ago

No, we'd go somewhere else

by Pure-Lawyer-6819 1 day ago

Considering that 90% of women's bathrooms smell better than men's, i want to keep them separate

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Women bath rooms need to have scented products used in them, mens just get cleaned, that is why womens "SMELL BETTER"

by Deep_Poetry9216 1 day ago

....occasionally by accident or when it's a gender neutral one. Also sometimes in my old school u could smell it by the door

by Anonymous 1 day ago

for men, the "mutual space" has urinals. your point sorta makes sense if & only if all public bathrooms have private rooms, but it also becomes a concern for assault/harassment

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I've been to many bathrooms that were unisex and I did not appreciate having to hover over the toilet as there was piss all over the seat

by Used-Simple 1 day ago

At least where I come from, men's public bathrooms tend to be so much dirtier and so I see this being beneficial to me as a woman.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agree with this for single-occupancy restrooms. Many restaurants will have two restrooms, each for one person at a time, and be identical in function, yet have gendered signage. Makes no sense why I have to sit and wait for my gender to finish, when they are completely private and have the same utilities.

by denesikoma 1 day ago

Get rid of urinals and it's an hour and half wait, plant more lemon trees

by tillmangaetano 1 day ago

You'll have extra places that were otherwise women bathroom

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No mean toilets sorry

by Anonymous 1 day ago

When the urinals are full you have guys pissing on the toilet seats that a women then would have to deal with. While in their own bathroom that wouldn't be an issue. Unless a man dressed as a women does it, but that would be less likely.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You okay with guys spraying pee all over the toilet?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Urinals mean that men can be in and out in less than a minute. Force everyone to be (together) in stalls and you just massively increased everyone's waiting time and/or the size of the bathroom. Stalls are "private" but also increase the attractiveness for toilets as places for shady behaviour such as drug dealing/taking, sex etc. That further increases waiting time and the chance of people being crime victims

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Unless the stall walls and door completely go from ground to ceiling I'm not sharing a bathroom with a man. It's so easy for someone to slip a camera under the door or the next stall wall. It's not safe, it's already a worry with people hiding cameras in the toilets.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That's how it it in most of the world full walls and a door

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not in Australia or from what I've seen on TV in America.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah why not extend it to the floor tho same material but longer

by Anonymous 1 day ago

gender abolishonist nonsense. Women don't deserve to share bathrooms with men, men are disgusting, lol.

by Specific-Law 1 day ago

I think most toilet cleaners and attendants actually say that the ladies' is as bad as the gents'...

by Anonymous 1 day ago

bruh Are you being serious? Your gender does not have a significant effect on the smell of your urine: food and water are the biggest factors. Women squatting make just a big a mess as men using urinals, plus they have period blood to deal with.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Hahahahahaha you've never had to deal with bloody tampons and pads in a restroom have you?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Every single men's bathroom has been more clean than the women's bathrooms according to everyone I work with. Casual misandry, what a quality individual.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Don't worry, as a (gay) man I don't want to share a bathroom with women either. The few times I've encountered women in men's restrooms, I've been met with pretty disgusting flirtatious behavior towards the men they're accompanying in there. They seem to think that simply because they're female they have license to engage in behavior that would land a male in jail/on the registry. I say they should face the same consequences.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I was jumped and pooped on by five women in the women's restroom so I'd feel safer in the men's room.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Ok I'm gonna need some backstory for this

by Ill-Nectarine 1 day ago

Can't tell if you're joking but hope you are

by Proud_Contact_3342 1 day ago

You're not wrong. But the gender binary (old language) are different kinds of gross on either "side". And it's a little nicer not have to deal with the other side's mess 😅

by Arelybrekke 1 day ago

Public toilets are gross either way. Some people are horrendous 😬

by Proud_Contact_3342 1 day ago

Not in Copenhagen. Cleanest public toilet I've ever seen. Even had an office inside with someone behind a window. Another day at the office I guess.

by Single_Office 1 day ago

What was the person behind the window for?

by Proud_Contact_3342 1 day ago

I dunno. Maybe if you need a wipe? Danes have a lot of support systems in place. That's why they're so happy.

by Single_Office 1 day ago

I know. I've had to clean it all. I still find penis owners way messier in general (in my experience). Especially after drinking.

by Arelybrekke 1 day ago

Read some history then you'll understand why it is the way it is

by Electronic_Pin 1 day ago

Disregarding urinals and queues etc., what would you say to the possibility of assault or voyeurism?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That's horrible, but I think it's separate to this debate. The issue is that you have men and women together, essentially allowing these sorts of things to happen at much greater rates. The woman in your story was so paranoid about men in the women's bathroom to the point of transphobia, but if toilets were gender-neutral then (obviously) no one could complain about other people in the bathroom, even if they felt uncomfortable etc.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Have walls and a door

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Too expensive and impractical for many establishments

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Only in America
