+50 Truck trailers are death machines, and their decades-old design is long overdue for a redesign, amirite?

The deaths you hear about? A quick Google search shows that HGV's account for 14% of auto fatalities in the EU. That's not even close to half. An unskilled or inebriated driver in a compact car is FAR more dangerous than a highly skilled and trained driver in a large truck with a trailer. There are WAY more of the former out there than there are the overwhelmingly GOOD drivers out there putting goods on your shelves.

1/2 of the deaths on the road are people running under the backs of trailers? Care to cite some statistics on that one?

"The EU spends billions of taxpayers' money on useless things to improve "safety" and day-to-day life" And... You want them to spend more because?.......... Big trucks haul big things, if they are going over the speed limits and killing people, the trucks aren't the problem.

useless things to improve safety Is the best thing I've read today. "Hey, Harv, why don't ya not slap on one of those useless life saving devices. We don't need any more of you running around this world."

So you are saying that passanger cars should not use same roads as trucks? So unless you dislike food and everything produced further tham 5km, we should ban passanger cars from at least highways if not all roads. You are probably angry at trees growing at the side of the road and killing poor, inocent drunk drivers
