Why are you playing a game that you think is cringe and unfun and watching videos about it?

Nice bait mate

Some might say it was a master bait. Dungeon & Dragon Master Baiting. Luckily, some of us here are master debaters willing to take this challenge head on. Who will win the final rub off?

While I don't play this game, I dissagree with you: 1. Everything is made up. You give an example of computer games and traditional board games - they are made up as well. They are a product of someone's imagination, just like a DM and DnD session. Also, it is good for people to imagine things. One of downsides of adulthood is that imagination is not used anymore, we are dumbed down by tv shows and can't produce anything from imagination anymore. This hinders creativity, makes life dull and boring. Such games are beneficial for our minds. 2. While it can look dorky, but it is just like acting. You can watch a movie, go to a theatre and there you will see people acting imaginary story lines and making different voices. Yes, people playing DnD are not proffessional actors, but they are doing it for their own interest. You don't need to watch or participate if you don't like such things. 3. God forbid somebody has a hobby…

I work with a bunch of ITs who love stuff like DnD, anime, magic etc. I find it all boring and uninteresting, but I love to see how passionate and knowledgeable they are about it.

D&D has clearly established rules, progression, and each campaign has a win condition. There are many books full of rules and information about how progression works.

I've spotted the deep-into-roleplay wizard that uses the ingredient pouch instead of an arcane focus so that he can describe shopping at the apothecary one reagent at a time

That seems like a very popular opinion
