+45 duck is better than chicken, amirite?

by Xstokes 2 days ago

I would still say its easier to cook chicken. But your duck dish sounds delicious.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If your chicken is dry, you don't know how to cook.

by johnnierobel 2 days ago

If you cook your chicken to 165*, the white meat is definitely dry. Unless you inject it with something.

by Minimum-Reserve-8095 2 days ago

I've cooked chicken breast dozens of times and I've never made it dry. It's pretty easy to do it right if you get the timing down.

by krobel 2 days ago

Either you don't bring it to 165* or you have a magic kitchen. 165* chicken is dry and no safer than 150* held at that temp for 5 minutes. I usually shoot for 155*, just because some people like the meat firmer.

by Minimum-Reserve-8095 2 days ago

I eat 2 grilled chicken breasts literally every single night. Never dry

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Duck is way easier / faster to make than chicken. But indeed way more expensive

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Just go to your nearest pond and grab one?

by Kaela99 2 days ago

The big food is coming to get you. HIDE!

by Rachaelleannon 2 days ago

The best I can do is geese....would you like to do a trade...I'm taking all the risks here!!!!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Duck meat is god tier. My general rule of thumb is if I see duck on a menu, I order it almost automatically, I love duck.

by Pure_Web 2 days ago

I mean that's factually true, but duck is more expensive and has... taste. Chicken's neutral taste allows it to be used as base meat for every kind of meal, but indeed duck is fancier and allows you to taste the greatest heights. Not the same uses, all have their qualities, but if we are taking about taste alone, duck is indeed god-tiers meat.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Chicken isn't neutral. Chicken raised too fast and as slaughtered to early is neutral.

by hortense67 2 days ago

What you're saying is that duck has over twice as much fat as chicken. Fat is flavor. Higher fat means less protein and more calories.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Exactly. The fat in duck makes it way more flavorful.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Chicken ain't hard to cook

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This is true imo, it generally tastes better, not sure if it's unpopular or not though. Also not sure if it is more ethical, the meat industry is problematic in many ways, some try to be better than others, but I'm not sure the type of animal plays a role in that.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It is, but duck is not as versatile as chicken is. Chicken has a very neutral flavor and works with pretty much anything. Duck works in a lot of dishes but that ducky taste will clash with some. And it's more expensive. And has more fat which everyone doesn't like.

How tf do you dry out chicken

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You follow servsafe standards and cook it to 165

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Depends on how it's cooked. I've had my share of gamey, gross duck. But also amazing, crispy, tender duck.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Don't think I've ever had duck

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Have you never cooked a boneless skinless chicken thigh? Step 1: Season Step 2: Put under broiler for some amount of time at some temperature Step 3: Forget that you put chicken in the oven Step 4: Delicious juicy chicken thighs

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not unpopular. Duck is a lot tastier and has more fat, so you can render it and get a great juicy cut. The reason people eat more chicken though is cause it's cheap

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I love a good duck

by Mrazalison 1 day ago

Duck is greasy and disgusting no matter how prepared in my experience. I'd rather do without than to eat duck.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Never tried duck. It's good?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's amazing. I much prefer duck over chicken. If I could, I'd use duck way more often. Luckily, we're planning to start a bit of a homestead and while I will start with meat chickens we also plan to raise Peking ducks for meat.

by FoxOutrageous4536 1 day ago

This isn't unpopular. People don't eat duck as often because it's much more expensive, not because they think chicken is more flavorful.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not nearly as much meat on duck and I have had far worse quality meat by frequency. Even the Magret de Canard is kinda hit or miss and over twice as expensive.

by rylan52 1 day ago

Duck is better if you like Duck, while there are definitely tastier meats the flip side of that makes chicken probably the most versatile meat humans cultivate.

by Particular-Kick-8788 1 day ago

Is this unpopular? Chicken is a cheaper more widely available ingredient, duck is more expensive and kind of luxury (at least in the West, I know duck is more common in Asian cuisine)

by morarmadison 1 day ago

This is almost an objective fact. Chicken is the hand job of meat. Awesome when you're young, broke, inexperienced. But im an adult now, and you know what I really want.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agreed except for fried ducks already greasy enough and when you fry it it just makes it worse but cooked other ways I agree

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agree duck is a much nicer taste, but chicken isn't hard to cook. Duck is too expensive to be having as much as chicken.

by Aggravating-Pace 1 day ago

Duck. Fat. Fries.

by Demetris24 1 day ago

And it's worse nutritionally, less protein, more fat

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Duck off

by amybahringer 1 day ago

Have u ever tried Guyanese/Trinidadian duck curry before? It's made with Garam masala, roasted cumin, and curry paste. Best way to have duck

by Xortiz 1 day ago

Duck is better. But the reasons it's better is that it has much more flavor. Flavor you get sick of pretty fast. Chicken is a blank canvas. Duck is a coloring book.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Duck tastes like pond scum

by ConcernEmergency 1 day ago

What's truly unpopular is lamb (and camel) is waay better than beef in anything but a burger.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lamb gets too much hate, it's really good if cooked properly.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Now that is unpopular, lamb sucks in anything that's not middle eastern food then it still kinda sucks. I could not imagine a lamb burger 🤮

by Kundeguido 1 day ago

You're insane. Roast lamb is the food of gods. Minted lamb burgers are wonderful.

by Dismal-Fee-3816 1 day ago

You forgot lamb stock. I'd bathe in it if i could... Also Rice cooked in it is just amazing

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Wrong, lamburgers are far superior

by rylan52 1 day ago

More ethical? Why? I'd say it feels less ethical, as I'm feeding the ducks in the park, so eating their brethren feels more wrong than eating a chicken. (Yes I know this is hypocritical)

by Huge_Hunt_5576 1 day ago

So you know this reasoning doesn't make sense, yet you still go with it anyways...

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Deciding which animal to eat and not is always hypocritical. Why a pig and not a dog? But I wanted to know why OP would consider duck to be more ethical, as my reasoning would be the opposite.

by Huge_Hunt_5576 1 day ago

Because in terms of human history, dogs had jobs that helped humans and thus we wanted to keep them around, pigs did not. It wasn't about morality, but practicality. And I can acknowledge that, ethically speaking, there's no real difference between eating a pig or a dog. I won't eat a dog because I've had them as pets, but I'm aware that there's no real ethical difference between the two.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maybe OP just thinks ducks are assholes.
