Sinners didn't know what it wanted to be ! amirite?

What religous symbols were thrown on the screen? The church? Also it's a vampire movie so how would it be unpredictable?

Yeah, it's a vampire movie , doesn't mean it has to drown in obvious imagery. I'm talking about how every scene beats you over the head with crosses, blood-as-baptism shots, stained glass lighting, and sermons about ‘sin' instead of letting the theme breathe. Symbolism's great when it serves the story; here it felt like it was there to remind you the movie's ‘about something.' And as for predictability ,a genre can still surprise you if the writing focuses on character choices instead of just ticking the vampire boxes. Why does this have to be said in 2025

"you'll notice everyone has very oddly nuanced reasons for liking it and the assumptions can get far fetched which I don't think is a good sign about the movies clarity" Maybe you're just bad at media literacy?

I like this take. You summed it up pretty well. I remember watching it and liking it, but I didn't feel like it was that good compared to the praise it got. Especially not in terms of horror. Funny enough it reminded me of Black Panther.

I enjoyed black panther but I was younger when I saw it , 02baby, honestly I couldn't tell you what black panther was about with a gun to my head, just rich Africans have technology and can fight lol
