accurate user name?

You just need to adapt the European style of licensing of vehicles: A-motorcycles B- passenger vehicles and vans C- large commercial vehicles D- lorries and busses T- trolley busses B C and D categories are limited by weight and tow capacity so a small pickup would probably fit into a B category while the big ones would fall under C

Researchers at the institute looked at records of almost 18,000 incidents in which vehicles struck pedestrians. They found that vehicles with grille areas that were 40 inches tall or higher are 45% more likely to kill a pedestrian they might hit.

Yes it should be by height. There are already max bumper heights for the exact same reason.

I half agree. I don't think they should need special permission. this is a free country, and requiring special permission /proof of need is the opposite of liberty I think they should have to get basically a special drivers license, *almost* a CDL type thing, but not one that requires special training, or cost extra. However. it needs to be revoked at the drop of a hat if you drive like an asshat . speeding, swerving, tailgating, .. revoked, 1 year before you can appeal course. i also tend to think this about normal cars too. really I just loath bad drivers...

I agree with you but free country is a bad argument for not taking action against dangerous things

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's the best argument. Freedom isn't free, it has consequences.

That's the exact case in Denmark. You can't just go buy a large pickup truck unless it's on "yellow plates" for work.

by Jakubowskitaryn 2 days ago

Huh? You can only own pickup trucks for work?

by Few_Satisfaction4965 2 days ago

What the hell? It's almost the same thing as driving a regular car. The biggest difference being how to safely divide weight in the back of the pick up, which definitely doesn't require any involved training. (For those of you that don't know, you want all the weight closest to the cab)

Also louder

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion.

I always wonder why crazy urbanists want to go after pickup trucks, things that help us poor people survive, and not after luxurious oversized RVs, private jets and yachts.

I need food, the only way I can get it is by making money carrying my lawnmower and other tools around

by Adventurous_Stop_585 2 days ago

ok so you have it for your job. And I doubt you have a big one. less than 15% of pickup truck owners reported using them primarily for work or farming. Another article published by PowerNation TV reported that a significant portion of pickup truck owners rarely, if ever, use their vehicles for hauling, towing, or other typical truck tasks. Instead, they are often used for everyday activities like commuting, shopping, and running errands.

PowerNation TV? Sounds like a credible source. Anyway, if people want to use pickups it is up to them. It is the most universal vehicle that can do work, shopping, leisure or anything. Better to have 1 pickup than multiple different vehicles.

"its better for me, f the environment, f other people's safety." yeah I'm not at all shocked that you drive an f150

by ezekielbayer 2 days ago

I mean it sounds like he's actually doing pickup truck things with it

by Yessenia94 2 days ago
