+43 You don't have to care, what your neighbors are doing, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

How is this unpopular? That is a norm.

its a myth

My husband is like this. He is retired and has nothing better to do alot of the time. He knows the business of EVERYONE in my building. There is a group of 4 or 5 of them that get together on one of their ground floor patios when the weather is nice and compare notes. No matter how much I tell him I really don't care that Ethel in apt 2025 is having an affair with Margaret in 2034, he still insists on telling me everyone's business.

Time travelling lesbians?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Well, my dad think, that I am weird for avoiding this rude and nosy neighbor. But come on, can't I even have friends over without her knowing?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You don't have to care about punctuation either, but you should.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I disagree; Punctuation is a personal? Choice "and none of your% business!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Meaning is clear no punctuation required (This is a simpsons joke btw)

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I think OP actual cares a little too much about punctuation based on those unnecessary commas.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My phone loves suggesting unnecessary commas.

My grandmother was like this when she had her dementia. She was still a bit nosy beforehand, but with the dementia she was much nosier. Now it's just a running joke amongst us all after her passing.

by Little-Sprinkles108 1 day ago

People are too polite though and enable this behavior. Sometimes people have to politely be told to f**k off

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah, tried that. Then she starts gossiping, how rude I am when I don't answer her questions. There is no win.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is most people

by homenickroselyn 1 day ago

I don't think they did, this is a stupid opinion I think they're daft for having.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Perhaps I should, I live on a very nosy street I suppose so it just seems normal to me. If I'm walking into/ out of my house and pretty much anyone within 6 houses or so of mine is in the street we'll have chat for a couple of minutes. It's nice. It means people are comfortable helping you out when your aren't even there to ask. Was in Spain a couple of weeks ago and forgot to leave the bins out so Terry over the road did it for us. A year or so ago, the old lady next door's back fence blew down in a storm so we hopped over to put it back in before she even asked because I'm in her garden often enough I know she doesn't mind. Once our dogs got out and ended up in someone's garden down the street, had a text of them while I was at work (because they have my number and know whose dogs are whose) saying Buzz and Woody were chilling on their couch and I could knock on for them on my way home. Life gets easier when you live on a road full of people who know you and are willing to help you out.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes...I avoid them at all costs!

by ImmediateResearch236 1 day ago

I mean, it depends on what they're doing if my neighbors are ridiculously loud at stupid hours I do care. If my neighbors keep having the blinds open when I passed the window looking for two seconds, but that's about it. It's just general curiosity. I don't pursue it much.

by Johann39 1 day ago

They are gossiping all over the street. And producing false stories.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Good.. Because I don't.

by MasterSilver 1 day ago

Me either. My life is from september to june 5-6 days per week working, sometimes 11,5 hours.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Our neighbour once knocked on our door at 11pm at night (we were in bed because early work start) to ask why we hadn't put our glass recycling out for the collection next morning! Kinda wanted to punch him in the face.

by West-School 1 day ago

See, that's what I'm talking about! I had a lady friend over, celebrating her birthday at my home. Next day the nosy neighbor asked- word to word- who was that fat pink haired woman?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Feign ignorance - 'I don't know any fat pink haired women, I haven't had anyone over at all! Did my security alarm not go off?'

by West-School 1 day ago

I didn't even answer to her. But then she starts talking to the other woman, that "this goth woman s so rude"- ok, then.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The door is closed. I only meet her outside.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The punctuations are killing me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Being an active participant in your immediate community is super important. You sound like a stick in the mud.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Good. Cause I don't care about this person's life. I have my job and anything else is nobody's busniess.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You are what is wrong with the world.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Really? So sharing my intimate life with others and causing gossip is right? Really? Can't I have my own, private life??

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You don't have to put a comma, in the middle of that sentence.

by collinsjordi 1 day ago

Why? Why I have to explain everyone, who visits me or where I go?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well, she kida does. When I was younger, she asked me, when will I become a single mother and told me to get impregnated in a local nightclub. So why would I chat or share my life?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well Idk perhaps this one particular neighbour isn't very nice, but that's no reason to write off all of them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maybe, maybe not. But I really don't have time to engange with other woman'd badly raised grandkids. I don't need to be babysitter, when I often work 11,5 hours. And I love my privacy. Is this really that bad? Being on my own?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not if you don't think so, but being a private person and being part of a community are not mutually exclusive. I don't know this lady so I can't tell you you're wrong to avoid her, but I know all my neighbours and I like enough of them that it's been worth it. Doesn't mean you have to be friends with them all.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There is no community. There are just 1 nosy lady and the other with badly raised grandkids. Nothing else.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Getting to know your neighbour is not the same as controlling them.

by TraditionalQuote3087 1 day ago

Neither is having a conversation.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes, exactly. But the OP did not write about having a polite conversation. He complains about nosy neighbours who want to know everything about you. There is a difference. Do you understand that difference?

by TraditionalQuote3087 1 day ago

It still isn't controlling though is it?
