+45 Everyone should get a day off on their birthday, amirite?

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

I take my birthday off every year lol

by MailElectronic 1 day ago

That may be true, but I could also say the older I get the less I want to work lol.

by Savings_View 1 day ago

I always take my birthday off. Being an early September baby I was tortured with the dreaded return to school on almost every single one of my birthdays when I was younger

by philip17 1 day ago

Hard disagree. Personally, I care more every year. It's a celebration of everything I survived until this point.

by Devan21 1 day ago

Trust me I hate my birthday but I still don't wanna work

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

You're 13, what job could you possibly be doing?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lol. Get out

by Sudden-Hovercraft 1 day ago

I just take my birthday off every year. Buy myself a cheat meal, drink my favorite energy drink and play video games all day. I use it as an excuse to have a me day, that way I still look forward to it.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah, but day off....

by CapitalSurvey 1 day ago

My birthday usually ends up falling on a 3 day weekend more often than not so I don't really care.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

RIP 29 February

by Anonymous 1 day ago

They should be able to choose if they want to take February 28th or March 1st off

by gracie01 1 day ago

Any holiday or days where you don't have work get a day off of their choice or the closest work day

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

My employer does! We don't have to use it in our birthday but most people do.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Honestly I have a friend who works at a company who gives all employees off on their birthday. Unfortunately, most companies aren't that cool.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

When was in college or early twenties, sure. Well, not so much my birthday, the day after. So I could go out, drink, stay out late.

by Botsfordismael 1 day ago

I'm in my 30's and I refuse to work on my birthday. Even if all I do is lounge around the house it's still my one day that's just for me and I enjoy that.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't even work but a celebration the day after would be nice But I'd hate having to work on the day I'm supposed to be happy and exist in peace

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

Idt this is an unpopular opinion just a childish one.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

whys it childish?

by Ahermiston 1 day ago

Idgaf about my birthday and it isn't a holiday.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lucky

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

I'm 55. Idgaf about a lot anymore.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I already do this. On a more serious note, it is crazy that we do not get presidential election day off. It is literally one day every four years. Make it a federal holiday already.

by No_University_7828 1 day ago

And some countries have elections day on the weekend!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Is this unpopular? Anyway, I get to pick a day on my birthday month to have off

by Anonymous 1 day ago

When I worked at Build-a-Bear, they'd give everyone their birthday off!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sign me up

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

My first corporate job gave everyone a paid day off for their birthday so I've never worked it 😭

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That sounds awesome, I feel like when i get my first part time (probably at macdonalds) i wont be able to get it off cause its a busy holiday

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

Yeah you can if you request it off early. When I worked in restaurants I just requested super far out

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You have PTO so just use one of them on your birthday?

by Osinskileone 1 day ago

You can always negotiate it into your employment contract if it's something important to you.

by AdReasonable 1 day ago

Everyone should also give me $10 million while we are doing handouts.

by Ready_Development 1 day ago

You're right totally the same

by Carmenlind 1 day ago

Sure why not

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Never cared much about celebrating a bday.. I get some people do that and continue to do that as adults.. But yeah, I just don't care that much about it haha

by Actual_Process5659 1 day ago

I would be so miserable if I had days off on my birthday 😭 Let me work and leave me alone lmao

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Paid leave?

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

Just think, if you lived somewhere not the US (UK for example) you could request your birthday as paid leave and take it from your paid holiday entitlement

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't celebrate it for years and years anymore.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Only if they want it. I don't care about my birthday so I would not need an automatic day off for it.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My employer does this. Day off with 8 hours of straight time pay. We also have the option to take it on ANY other day of the year instead.

by ottogerhold 1 day ago

I get over 30 days at the beggining of the year to place whenever i feel like it. I don't care about my birthday, but if you wanna give me one more i'm fine with that.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I usually end up taking it, I'm lucky I have a job with a lot of time off, but yeah I agree in general

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I remember being in my twenties and broke AF. I purposely picked up an open to close brunch/dinner bartending shift and gifted myself $700 for my birthday. Waaay better than taking it off and spending money.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What's your reasoning?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean it's the day I'm born It might be selfish that I don't wanna work when there's probably going to be a rush but I just want a day to myself

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

My unpopular opinion is that there should be no designated holidays. Instead, you get 10 (or so) inalienable days off per year to be scheduled at the beginning of the year. Why do we give Christmas and Easter off to people in non-christian countries? Let people pick the days that are important for them and businesses don't have to close because they have no employees on certain holidays.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I always took my birthday off work: either called in sick, or took a vacation day.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Can we just get universal healthcare in the US instead? I'll trade that for every holiday!

by EquivalentOld 1 day ago

I don't understand why birthdays are considered such a big deal. If you want the day off, plan ahead and book it off. It's not like the day is going to come suddenly and unexpectedly

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I intentionally work on my birthday. I hate my birthday.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My birthday is the day after your's. I so get it. Ain't no way am I dealing with hung over people on my bday

by Anonymous 1 day ago

SAME That's probably why il never work at a restaurant

by Minute_Solution_2979 1 day ago

I take my birthday off every year, but I get vacation days.. and I prioritize my birthday. It may change later when I have kids but my birthday falls pretty smack in the middle or summer so why not take a vacation during summer?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I've had the fortune of working for companies that had this policy. Every single one of the companies I've worked for gave you PTO on your birthday to use on your birthday or 30 days before or after.

by ysauer 1 day ago

I never work on my birthday. Ever. Take it off on your own!

by Abernathykaden 1 day ago

Im too old to care

by mia38 1 day ago

That's not an unpopular opinion..just an unrealistic/wishful thinking one.
