+65 There is no such thing as a "morning" person. amirite?

This isn't unpopular so much as it's not true.

Yeah, I have a friend who really, spontaneously wakes up at 5am because he likes it. He could easily wake up at 7 to go to work. He just enjoys early mornings and says he's very focused and awake (which I definitely am not).

by Connect-Place7600 1 day ago

But what time does your friend go to sleep?

by Primary_Ferret_1788 1 day ago

Not very late. But again, because he likes to. He said that even if he wakes up later, he always feels more tired, less focused and less energetic in the evenings. The exact opposite happens to me. Regardless of how early I go to bed, early mornings are always a time of confusion and sleepiness for me.

Just because you do not feel something doesn't mean it's not possible.

If given a choice between sleeping in and waking up early, even morning people would choose to sleep in. Choice doesn't really factor into it. My brain is inclined to wake up early. I can't sleep in if I want to.

I know plenty of people who love being up in the morning, keep living your tiny world bud!

I don't think you understand what it means to be a morning person. Some people who get up at the crack of dawn are "sleeping in", or at least sleeping as much as they need to, whether that's 8 hours or whatever. You must prioritize staying up late. They may prioritize going to bed early. As long as they are getting their needed amount of sleep it really doesn't require special discipline to wake up "early". An interesting aside, studies show that testosterone levels (in men) vary throughout the day, but typically peak in the mornings. Given this, guys who are "morning" people are likely more productive, etc during those early morning hours as opposed to guys who sleep through their peak testosterone time period.

Your perspective-taking skills are low here. You are basically telling people how they feel and what they think 😂

I wonder what else you don't know about the world.

I for some reason wake early, maybe its years of getting up to go to work. Retired I still wake early. I do like the fact that I am usually the first one up so I get to have a quite time before interacting with anyone.

There is no such thing as a "night" person. Let's face it - nobody actually loves being up in the middle of the night. Night people are just more disciplined and stronger willed than "morning people." If given a choice between sleeping in and waking up early, every night person would choose to wake up early. See how silly that sounds?

Waking up early and getting all your household chores (dishes, trash, laundry, grocery shopping, etc.) done all before 9-10am feels AMAZING.

by Howelljanelle 1 day ago

As someone who likes to sleep later but also has insomnia, I concur. When I can't get back to sleep, so I do laundry and stuff, it feels like I have a whole day of vacation in front of me

You acknowledge there is something that separates morning people from non-morning people, then deny that morning people exist. You might not be a "thinking" person.

I know plenty of people who choose to get up at 5:00 a.m. because they like being awake that early.

I think that there are people who are wired to be at their peak performance in the morning and those who are wired for more evening performance or at least after waking up. For me, I do my best work at 5am! I love the mornings and 4am is a bit early but 5-6am is great for waking up and anything later than 7 and I feel like the day is gone. However I'm most comfortable going to bed between 8-9. This is my preference, I can adjust as needed but I am definitely what you'd consider a morning person. I need little time to "wake up." Whereas my spouse takes at least a good hour to be functioning when he wakes up. Prefers a bit later start 7-8am.

This is just not true. I can go to bed at 4 in the morning and my body will still be like "get up bitch!" at 6:00. It's only when I use a sleep aid that I can sleep in til 8 or 9.

Read about circadian rhythms. You are wrong.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I fall asleep at 8-9, when i sleep in I wake up at 6am. I love waking up in the morning

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Morning people are just more disciplined and stronger willed than "night owls" 🙄🙄 People who respect their circadian rhythms are not weak willed an undisciplined. They just understand their bodies and know how to enforce their own needs.

My husband begs to differ

I'm not a morning person myself, but waking up early does feel good and i can totally see people liking it if they don't work till late beforehand.

by Upset-Listen-9028 1 day ago

If someone's brain has had all of the rest it requires then they won't want to sleep in. There's no point in rolling around in bed for a couple of more hours when you can be doing something more productive.

We found the person who is perpetually grumpy in the morning and drinks like 6 cups of coffee.

This isn't an opinion, this is just an incorrect assumption.
