I like Imagine Dragons, most of their songs at least. I also like a lot of different metal bands, or listen to EDM and other different genres. Different people have different tastes, ignore everyone else and enjoy what you like.

I don't think they're bad necessarily, I mean they're a huge band with a huge following so they objectively can't be bad. I just don't find them very good either. It's just a little boring. "Quaint" is the word I'd use lol

That is a fair point that many people (self included) will fancy our phrasing up with buzzwords when we don't like something. I do however think that one can actually dislike something for being generic when it's just lost all sense of personality. For an example, Katy Perry: stuff like Hot N Cold or Last Friday Night did have something unique with the pump-up energy and the fun-trashy humor, and those songs have become beloved over time. In contrast, later Perry stuff like Dark Horse or Bon Appetit lost that clear identity and had nothing in the wings. I'm not gonna sit here and say "Katy Perry should have never matured," but musically, it would help to still make me feel something.

I distinctly remember making fun of Radioactive the first time I heard it, primarily because Imagine Dragons is a social experiment designed to see just how bland tastes have become. They are clearly not a real band. No actual human would admit to being responsible for such beige sounds.

I don't think they're "bad," but the music is very overtly made to be sold to the most people possible but still has a very mall-friendly "edge" painted on it. To me that just feels... icky? Somewhat condescending? I don't like it for the same reason i don't like that Wednesday show, it just feels very "PG edgy" and, as a man in his late 30s, if i want edgy entertainment I'll just go for the real thing.

I already wholeheartedly agreed with your first point, which OP I think confused why people call them corporate… then I ended up loudly saying "yes oh my god YES!" over and over at 7 am here as I went paragraph to paragraph.
