I've tried to give him a 2nd/3rd chance, watched one of his specials all the way through, chuckled a couple of times and realized it's not the jokes - I think it's his demeanor. Makes the delivery more collegiate cryptobro and less comedic. By contrast, Nate Bargatze's super-clean shows rely on his delivery, self-deprecation, and clever wording. I think Matt relies on bad-boy charm and just... falls short when compared to people like Jeselnik and Tosh. That said, I disagree that he should be cancelled. No comedy - no matter how unfunny one person or group thinks it is - should be cancelled. Comedy is the last bastion of free speech, and it's crucial to forcing conversations we'd rather not have. IMO that makes it a very unique and beautiful art form.

I've never heard of him and googling him didn't help either. He seems like an aspiring right-leaning Pete Davidson, I guess he at least set the bar low. My first impression was he looked like someone who got kicked out of Green Day for saying something racist.

Boring take, everything you say simply doesn't matter. Some people find him hilarious, some do not. You either fall into one camp or the other. It's the same with every single comedian. Same with musicians. Saying you dislike/like any comedian is not unpopular.

He's decent. If I'm going to a show, I'm not there to maybe be called out for how I look, or what I do for a living for him to make a joke and bank off of me. Lots of comedians do it, I find it lame. I'm there for jokes about everyday life.

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. There is a pretty big group of people who find insults and bullying behavior hilarious. Most of outgrew laughing at the weird kid when we got out of middle school. Matt Rife appeals to the people who never did.
