i think you and maybe certain people do that. Not everyone. Personally, most things I buy are for myself because I like them. I may not be your target audience tho. But if you genuinely feel this way, try to practice being more authentic/honest of who you are and what you enjoy and purposefully not chasing the approval of society by buying stuff.
