"The only thing worse than being alone, is being surrounded by people who make you feel alone."

Isn't it lonely, not alone?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Probably

I mean, that's the version I've heard, "worse than being lonely is people who make you feel lonely", but there might be two different versions.

What are you talking about? This generation seems like the most at peace with not going out with others and being alone that I've ever seen.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Most of the alone people you never see aren't really alone, they're just chronically online, surrounded by others like them, afraid of the real silence. The "alone" people you do see are the ones who actually talk to real humans offline, albeit still being introverts, and they're fine just enjoying their own time by themselves.

Laughs in introvert

I'd say the complete opposite- we seem to have become so socially isolated that even things like basic interactions in shops or at work/school are made out to be absolutely awful, torturous events. I mean, is ordering a sandwich at McDonalds really that much of a crime against humanity because gasp horror you had to actually use words and interact socially with another person?

Not being alone is torture

by reynoldselvis 1 day ago

If they don't want to be around themselves, why would anyone else want to be around them?

by Logical-Quiet-9563 1 day ago

Well, you seem to misunderstand the core here. It is torture for them because of their psychological programming. They don't act. Could they change? Yeah.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

agreed. they cant handle being alone, which i think is an extremely bad reflection of themselves if it cant be justified.

I really do spend some evenings alone in front of the tv eating junk. After a long day at work, it's sometimes exactly what I need.

by carydenesik 1 day ago

I've been saying this all my life

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah dawg, it's called anxiety

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is why mediation is very important.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

A lot people need to hear this.

Something something solitary confinement

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't disagree. Suppose I was making a point that solitary confinement is a punishment because of the lack of human contact. Showing it can be very distressing.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That true... Sometimes it is freedom... You come home, make some tea, sit down in your armchair, and all around there is silence... Everyone decides for themselves whether that's loneliness or freedom..

by Next-Attitude 1 day ago

above being alone. go away!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't get this either. I think basically, people don't have hobbies or interests these days. They simply don't know what to do if they're alone. They need to find stuff to do.

by Colemarcel 1 day ago

Solitude is loneliness for people too weak to admit they are lonely. Thats the real unpopular opinion here.

Look at all these virgins, wanting to be around other people or watching something. Bunch of dickless eunuchs with dopamine addictions, all of them.

by Logical_Clue6200 1 day ago

that's not what I'm saying mate. going out and having fun isn't the problem, it's when you can't handle being alone at all that it becomes one.

by Character_Gene 1 day ago

"Look at all these virgins, wanting to be around other people" That doesn't even make sense. The act of losing your virginity means you have to be around other people. Can't do it yourself.
