This has nothing to do with being an American despite general stupidity. You are telling on yourself imo.

America is one of the few places that still relies on cheques (outside of gambling winnings) and distrusts industry standard, eft/card practices. But sure.

I'm an American in my 30's and have never had to use a check in my life. America is in no way reliant on checks. As far as card vs cash goes, America is definitely a bit behind the curve but I live in a pretty big city and can reliably use my phone to pay almost anywhere except gas pumps and the occasional sit down restaurant. I can't even remember the last place I visited that didn't take card other than like roadside fruit stands. Frankly I'm a lot more likely to find places that only accept card than a place that refuses it.

your relying on the cashier having stable internet, the machine reading the card, the machine taking the correct amount of money, the bank being operational and the bank accepting the transaction. there are all these variables that can easilly go wrong and that i've seen go wrong quite frequently. No, you absolutely have not seen this go wrong "frequently". its also easier than ever for you to lose your money. No, it's not. If you lose your card they replace it. You are only responsible for $50 of fraud (never seen a company charge this). If you lose your cash it's gone. these variables just simply dont exist with cash. its physically on you at all times, buying something is as easy as handing over the cash and walking out. I tap my card and I'm done. No counting out my money, no waiting for a cashier to make change. even if you do lose it or get robbed youll likely be down $200 at most which is dealable. the one and only downside is you cant carry large anounts of it like if you wanted to buy a car. Drop my card and I'm out nothing. TL;DR card isnt really a secure way to manage money, and should only be used for large purchases in place of cheques while you use cash for everything else It's not A secure way, it is the most secure way.
