Cooking is useless unless done in batches, amirite?
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yea, your apartment should not be smelling like anything 2 days after you cooked it.
by VirtualHalf2 days ago
Are you making handmade bread and braised lamb?

A scam is a deliberate attempt to defraud someone.

No sh*t

The true unpopular opinion is that it doesn't take as long as people think to wash dishes

Love your username

How billions of us survived without dishwashers I will never know 🤦♀️
by Salt-Application-4142 days ago
I'm sure people believe I live in a cave because I don't have a dishwasher & have no plans to ever have one.

who cooks 3 times in a day? One hot meal a day, is the usual. The rest is bread, fruit, muesli, yoghurt.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Once a day is also too much
by Anonymous2 days ago
This is less unpopular opinion and more "I really don't know what I'm doing so I hate this specific thing. "
by susannatrantow2 days ago
I'm an excellent cook
by Anonymous2 days ago
No offense but are you on the spectrum then? I feel like most people can't smell what they cook the next day
by Anonymous2 days ago
Omg
by Anonymous2 days ago
No, you're definitely not. It's painfully obvious to everyone on here..I'm not being rude but if you know how to cook the only smell that really lingers is frying certain foods like fish..or fileting them. Certain seafood smells strong but garlic? If you smell garlic even a few hours later you're using WAY too much or burning it. I'd bet you can't even cook an egg without burning it. You are not an excellent cook.
by Anonymous2 days ago
It was hyperbole lol why is everyone so caught up on that. But cooking does leave a smell for a few hours & if you're cooking for every meal then yes it will smell most of the time Note: grew up in a big household where a pot was pretty much on most of the day
by Anonymous2 days ago
OP barely knows anything about cooking i guess
by FinalImportance62902 days ago
To be fair I forgot what cooking a single meal even looked like
by Anonymous2 days ago
Only if the cooking requires your full attention. I cook most evenings and watch a show or listen to an audio book whilst doing it. Plus lots of quite easy dinners take no more than one or two pans and about 25 minutes. Then put everything dirty in the dishwasher. I do batch cooking for bolognese, chilli etc. Some things like Lasagne, if you're making one you make a massive one. But a quick pasta or grilled chicken in a salad, travel, poke bowl, wrap isn't that arduous.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Same, sometimes I don't have anything on, but a lot of the time I just listen to something while doing it, and really, it only takes 30 min or so for a LOT of foods, not sure why people think all foods takes an hour or more. Like some pasta, rice or potatoes in a pot, then a sauce and some kinda meat if you want, and then if you want to some vegetables, none of that takes more than 20-30 mins.

Cup ramen your go to, im guessing.
by AgreeableGene2 days ago
I've actually never had ramen
by Anonymous2 days ago
No pans sure. No heat, fine. No garlic?!
by Anonymous1 day ago
Sure, that or just make less complex foods. I normally make enough for 2-3 days, so eg spaghetti bolognas, made enough for 3 days, then I just reheat it and some pasta and I'm done, that is 2 pans one for spaghetti which is just a quick rinse after, and then one that if done right after takes a few mins to clean. Dishes and such I just rinse and put in the dishwasher. That isn't that much, some foods are even easier, bit really unless it's some really elaborate food, then it's not that much to clean, especially if you do it right after eating when they have cooled down, then it's easy and fast to clean. Also if the whole apartment smells for days, and worse yet if you activate the smoke detector, then that is on you and not the food.

"Cooking doesn't take that much time just cook [insert basic noodle/pasta recipe]!" What if my palate yearns for something greater
by Anonymous1 day ago
How often do you cook
by Anonymous1 day ago
More or less every day, only when I visit others, or the rare times I eat out, other than that every single day. And if you mean how many times a day, then once, after work I either go get what I need, or just go home and starts cooking, I live alone so I always cook it.
by Anonymous1 day ago
yep.. I will often be eating the same dinner for 2, 3 or 4 days in a row depending on what I make and how the portions work out.. stuff like tacos.. one can of re fried pinto beans and one pack of ground beef makes tacos for 3 days.. one jar of pasta sauce makes spaghetti for 4 days. ect..
by Anonymous1 day ago
Nah, you're just incompetent. Cooking doesn't require dirtying every pan in your kitchen, unless perhaps you only own a single pan, nor should it generate such pungent, lingering smells or set of smoke alarms. There are plenty of things a person with even just basic cooking skills can make that don't take all that much time or effort nor generate inordinate amounts of dirty dishes and whatnot.
by Wonderful-Twist-80341 day ago
Clearly not, if you are incapable of making a simple meal for yourself without destroying your kitchen.
by Wonderful-Twist-80341 day ago
I wonder what else is useless unless done in batches?
by Anonymous1 day ago
Sounds like you have to put more attention to the heat settings of your stove
by Ecstatic_Alarm_73381 day ago
For the most part I agree with this. Lunches and Dinners you can make like 4 or 5 bulk dishes and be set for the month. Then all you gotta worry about is breakfast if you eat that. Bulk cooking is absolutely the way to go especially if you live alone.
by Anonymous1 day ago
If you cook a single meal, did you try eating it after? That's how I usually do it. Pretty useful for getting rid of my hunger
by Dry-Shine1 day ago
so you dont know what you are doing...
by Unusual_Tower_61371 day ago
I agree but we'll probably get sniped by all the cooks here that try to convince people cooking for an hour just to eat it in 15 mins and repeat 2 times per day is fine and recommended
by Anonymous1 day ago
Lunch is a WHAT
by Anonymous1 day ago
Yeah? What do you take to lunch? Some elaborate food? I take what amounts to a sandwich.
by Anonymous1 day ago
It's my fullest meal
by Anonymous1 day ago
And what is that meal? Do you really go home or something to spend 30 mins cooking a meal? I get leftovers or something, but no way in hell I would waste time on starting to cook a meal, would spend all break just making it, and that's not even thinking about transportation back and forth, the cleanup, or just eating it.
by Anonymous1 day ago
Exactly that's why I batch cook!
by Anonymous1 day ago
So I guess leftovers? Still no need to cook twice a day.
by Anonymous1 day ago
My advice is get an air fryer and rice cooker, takes 20 minutes and you just start them and walk away, plus cleanup is easy
