+44 Summer is the worst season ever. amirite?

by Repulsive_Tip5140 2 days ago

The heat. The humidity. The bugs. The fireworks. The sun beating down for 12 hours a day. Everything's wet. Everything stinks. If you love all that, you can have my share.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The winter you just have to deal with cold, which is easy with clothes and blankets. And ice if you live in a place where that is a problem. The summer has so much more stuff to combat!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I could not agree more! I get so annoyed with all the "just put another layer on" folks. Sometimes it's not possible or comfortable.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You don't need to precisely gauge; those layers can be taken off or added back on as needed

by nedmarquardt 2 days ago

and it gets dark so early. I think that's what I hate the most about winter!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I am from midwest America (iowa) and I much prefer the winter cold to the summer heat. It can be well below 0 before it's half as bad as being 90+.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I like being cold. I don't like being hot. Winter wins hands down for me and it isn't close! I'm happy you enjoy the summer though!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You do you but damn do I not understand people like you. At all.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

laughs in living at the beach everything can be solved by going for a swim 🀣

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I just don't like having to bundle up, even if it's just a sweatshirt and pants. I'd much rather be able to wear just shorts and a t-shirt without having to shiver even if it means it's hot during part of the day and spending more than 10 minutes outside means I'll likely be sweating even if I'm not physically active. If during the summer it were basically always 40+ and during the winter it were basically always less than 5 I would likely prefer the winter but I've never lived in that type of climate. Not to mention it tends to be easier to find people to play sports with in the summer. I'm in a flag football league, but unfortunately in the winter for like 5 months they don't play because I guess people don't want to play when it's so cold. I would play in the winter, but I guess I'm the exception.

by No_Valuable_321 2 days ago

I live in northeastern Indiana. Not exactly sure how close that is to where you live. I think where you live it's slightly hotter, but not by much. I don't have problems with AC not keeping up though. Your winters are about the same. I agree that I prefer to come inside and warm up because it gives off a cozy feeling, but between days being shorter (even with 9 hours of sunlight at the winter solstice I get seasonal depression) and my preference of being hot to being cold even though I can bundle up in the winter I much prefer the summer. I think the biggest reason I hate winter is because of the short days. If I lived in the same climate but we somehow had 13-15 hour days year-round without affecting the climate, my opinion might be different.

by No_Valuable_321 2 days ago

I'm actually a good bit more south, in Missouri. So, a bit different. Including day length, even. I never minded the shorter days though, but I know it's a source of seasonal depression for many. Even the long days can be annoying too though. Trying to go to bed at 9pm, and there's still daylight out can make for some annoyance, but it is nice to leave the house at 6am to a sunny morning. So, it's a give and take.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

With the exception of the bugs and the stink, I love all those things! That's why summer is my favorite

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You enjoy humidity? Lol

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yep! Feels so good on your joints/muscles

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Also framed very negatively. Sun for 12 hours a day? How about 12 hours of sunlight, enabling more outdoor evening activities with a later twilight Heat can be annoying, but it's more predictable which facilitates outdoor activities Random people setting off fireworks isn't great, but a firework show is a fun time.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

People are weird πŸ˜• 😐

by TomatoDifficult 2 days ago

Summer is great in certain parts of the world. It's great on west/east coasts of the US.

by Maurine24 2 days ago

Dont forget all the drunk teenagers merauding the streets

by Anonymous 1 day ago

And the sad reality is that summer will continue to get much worse as the planet continues to warm. Used to be a season where people would go out to the beach or on a walk to enjoy the weather, but now the heat is becoming unbearable and I'm stuck indoors with the AC on feeling miserable

by Warm-Permission 1 day ago

This! It's been so unbearably hot that it can't even be enjoyed. I feel for anyone who has to work outside in this weather

by Maudietrantow 1 day ago

And it also gets longer. Summer weather (heat/humidity) now starts mid-May and tends to last all of September, sometimes into October now. We don't get an actual Fall anymore

by Far-Bookkeeper-9668 1 day ago

This year is actually basically ending next week where I live which is shorter than usual. I'm so relieved.

by UsualHorror 1 day ago

I understand having this opinion if you live somewhere with mild winters. My guess is your opinion would change if you did not.

by Chance-Lake 1 day ago

South East Asia has two seasons though not four. Summers in NW Europe are by and large great however, but I do prefer Spring and Autumn tbh.

by ThinkPolicy2991 1 day ago

Yes true, you can wear shorts all year pretty much.

by ThinkPolicy2991 1 day ago

For me there is no best or worst because there is only four a year and time passes fast, I really don't find it worth spending a good chunk of the year negative over a season

by jettkemmer 1 day ago

for real, ain't nobody mad at the fact the sun comes up every morning

by BrickAffectionate744 1 day ago

Visit any raver party at 7AM. People will be crying.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

exactly and there are different activities best suited for different seasons! i do think the extra daylight during summer probably makes it my favorite. i also have never minded heat and much prefer wearing sandals and shorts vs. winter clothes

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You should try Canadian winters and come back to me hahaha Jokes aside, you have a good point. Just try to make the best out of the situation you're in.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't get it. I live in Eastern Europe and summer there is sweet time of the year, why should I change my opinion because of how summer in Asia is, or in Australia, or in Africa? Ok, so, winter in my country is horrible. It's cold, and dark, and windy, and almost never snow, only rains and dirt, and slippery icy roads. I'm not even talking about Siberia, where winters are truly time of hell. So I'm sure there's plenty of places where winter is much more nice. Should people who live there reconsider their enjoinment of winter because of how winter is going where I live? There's no universally nice time of the year.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maturing is finding something you appreciate from each season, not treating a season like a food aversion. Yes summer is hot and winter is cold, fall is cool and spring is rainy. Great observation, now go outside and find something fun to do.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Take your own advice.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You should take my advice

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How grown up of you. Thank you, I will take your wisdom and carry it on to my children.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Good idea! Perhaps then we won't have another you running around telling people to enjoy things and to go outside lol

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I take it that your quick, continuous responses mean that you in fact are not following your own advice. It's okay, we can grow up together :)

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I quite enjoy ruffling the feathers of people like you. And your quick continuous responses tell me I have succeeded :)

by Anonymous 1 day ago

For me personally spring is the worst because of the allergies I have to tree pollen. Autumn is by far the best though

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I was a mailman in Minnesota for 10 years. Winter sucks balls.

by Standard-Zone 1 day ago

I wouldn't say summer is the worst season, but it is no longer my favorite like when I was young.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

We only have summer and rainy here... I'd say rainy is worse 😞 especially during typhoon season

by heath53 1 day ago

Winter in Canada sucks. So summer is king and always will be, especially if you have to work outside in all conditions. Walking a mile in knee deep snow isn't fun and you will be longing for summer if it was you

by jannie64 1 day ago

Heat? Humidity? Who cares?? What about people everywhere? Eeew. Go back to work πŸ˜’

by Holiday-Heat-2829 1 day ago

Fall is where it's at for sure, I can do without sweating my balls off and running up my electric bill with the AC.

by KeyFuture 1 day ago

Fall is the best season for me it's a balance of the heat and the cold

by ChanceTasty 1 day ago

I have hyperhidrosis and horrid allergies. In winter I can breathe and I can drive my car without sweat dripping down my legs.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I've always hated summer. I hate being hot. I didnt care that public school was out, at least my school had air conditioning.

by Daryl04 1 day ago

Do none of you swim at all?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

im actually a swimmer and a water polo player

by Repulsive_Tip5140 1 day ago

I agree with you, I dislike summer the most. Fall is my favorite season of the year, but I love going out in the country where there is no light pollution, smoking some weed, and just staring at the beautiful night sky and seeing all the stars. I like the 4th of July, where my family comes together and we shoot off fireworks. That's about it, really. I'll pick sitting by the fireplace drinking a hot cup of coffee in the winter over summer any day. Summer may be my least favorite season, but each season has its perks.

by Key-Dig 1 day ago

Summer rips, it's warm enough to swim and the sun stays up late. It's pretty humid and I work outside but it's not too bad and you get used to it pretty quick

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What is this? Third grade? My favorite color is blue but you won't see me typing essays about it

by Pleasant_Birthday 1 day ago

I'd like to see an essay about it.

by angus72 1 day ago

I agree in terms of weather, fall and spring are nice.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Indeed

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Where I live we haven't had rain or a day below 26 celcius since June. Everyone's lawn is dead. We're in a major drought. The fire risk is extreme. Summer blows

by hegmannannabell 1 day ago

As someone who lives in the middle east, european summers in a place like Brussels sounds great, probably much lower temperatures and humidity than here. Also a lot of green, here everything becomes brown/yellow from May onwards.

by Jaded_Fennel_5983 1 day ago

It depends on where you live. Where I live, summers are mild (27c to 36c) and winters are very cold (-20c to 8c). Humidity averages 71% year-round. In places like Arizona and Miami I agree that summer is the worst season, but that's because the rest of the year is almost always perfect weather. In places like where I live summer is 100% better than winter even though it's sometimes too hot because in winter 99% of the time it's too cold while in summer outside of the hottest few hours of the day it's almost always prefect temperatures and there are way more days when the the temperatures are never unbearable than there are in the winter. Not to mention there is way more sunlight in the summer. That's the biggest factor for me. On winter solstice where I live we get about 9 hours of sunlight and even that much sunlight makes me depressed. If we had cold temperatures but 15 hours of sunlight in the winter it wouldn't be that bad. In places like Iceland and the Svalbard islands, unless you like rarely or never seeing the sun for several months a year and you like being cold for most of the year, Summer is absolutely better. Eventually it gets to be too much sunlight, but I'd rather too much sunlight than too little sunlight. Not to mention most of the year the weather is too cold (and even in the Svalbard Islands it's too cold almost year-round).

by No_Valuable_321 1 day ago

I live in Finland, I'm in my 30s, and I still love summer. The summers are getting hotter here but they're not yet at central or Southern European levels of hot. Plus we're so up north, we get 24/7 sunlight in the summer, and it feels magical, especially after the long dark winter. Also, I still get 5 weeks of summer holiday every year, as is pretty much the norm here due to our long holidays. In the winters, I only get a week off for Christmas time. I like autumn and half of winter too, but as our winter sometimes lasts 6 months, I tend to get frustrated with it eventually. Summer is like 2.5 months of something different.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

More than the heat, I hate the tourists. I stay away from the coast all summer to avoid the tourists. There's nowhere to park, traffic is horrible, out of towners unfamiliar with the streets driving erratically. I can't wait for September!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There is no summer in SEA. There are only two seasons. Hot and rain. Maybe occasional cloudy sun but that about it.

by Classic_Membership15 1 day ago

Especially when you are Canadian and it's cooking you internally

by Abject-Sprinkles5034 1 day ago

3rd month of 90+ heat in the US Midwest, I have to agree with this opinion.

by Academic-Jelly 1 day ago

Summers in the Pacific Northwest is awesome. We live in overcast and rain for 8 months of the year to experience the summer pay off. I reserve places like Southeast Asia for the winter months.

by liam52 1 day ago

It seems like you have more of a problem with Southeast Asia in summer than summer itself. I would imagine it's pretty terrible. Personally, I love summer in upstate NY. I don't care if it's too hot some days. I'll just stay inside. But on sunny, not-too-hot or humid days, it's perfect. I love not having to worry about being cold, and I especially love how it's lighter later. I'm already getting a little depressed because the sun is going down closer to 8 rather than 9. I hate winter, and I want to soak up as much summer as possible before I'm miserable and cold for 7-8 months.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lmao that's why I love Canada. Winter is so brutal everything you just said sounds great.

by Sydneekoch 1 day ago

I live in northern Norway so summer is still the best

by treyturcotte 1 day ago

The only reason we laud summer as a season here in the US is because, for all of our formative years, it's the only time we have extended time away from the strict structure of our education system. So, it's the only time as a kid where you have consistent free time.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is why Spring is the best season

by Legal-Koala-6913 1 day ago

I'm someone who hates summer and winter equally. I need it to be 50 degrees in winter and 75 in summer.

by UpsetGovernment 1 day ago

Well while I don't exactly agree that summer is the worst, summer in southeast east certainly sucks. I'm in Okinawa right now and I am sick of it. It's unbearabley hot every single day and the humidity is crazy.

by Carmella13 1 day ago

It's all fun and games until you have to farm your own food.

by SilentAppointment779 1 day ago

"I can bundle up to my heart's desire. I can only get so naked before I'm arrested and not allowed within 20 feet of a school."

by HurryBeginning 1 day ago

Definitely agree. It's easier to stay warm when it's cold than it is to stay cool when it's hot.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I also have this same viewpoint and it's indeed an unpopular one

by Far-Bookkeeper-9668 1 day ago

Winter this, summer that...what about the best 2 seasons? Autumn and fall

by Timely-Spray-4572 1 day ago

I feel like the majority of adults over 30 will agree with this

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sounds like your issue is with tropical climates not summer lol

by thelma32 1 day ago

I love summer so much. I love the sun giving me energy. I love the blue skies. I love the morning walks with my dog. Overall it's just way better than cold grey depressing weather.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm convinced people don't actually like summer even when they say they do lol.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah summer is horrible

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sorry… summer where I live is the best.

by FlatwormOk 1 day ago

That's a preference, not an opinion

by Anonymous 1 day ago

If you're not a kid or have kids in school then yes this is correct. Fall is the preferred season.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Winter is the best! I always feel so cozy being the hermit I am

by nat48 1 day ago

Yeah. Hate it too!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Still better than cold dark winter. I would feel differently if air conditioning didnt exist.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Afwul take, also using the humidity of Southeast-Asia as an argument. That has absolutely nothing to do with traditional summer as we know it in Europe and especially Belgium. What is summer in Belgium? Most of the time it's around 20 degrees, with maybe 2/3 weeks hotter than 25. That's ideal right? No crazy humidity, no thinking about layers, people outside, smiling, happy. That's the sort of feeling you never get in winter.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Wahhhh wahhhhh

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The main thing I hate about summer is the bugs. I don't mind the heat as long as I'm in shorts. I'm always amazed by hot places that are anti-shorts. Why do you choose to be miserable? lol.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Someone needs a holiday

by ImplementNo4417 1 day ago

Living in SE US, I have always hated summer. I don't even enjoy spending time outside because of the heat, humidity and insects

by Demetris50 1 day ago

i live in the Netherlands, i love summer, but i love every season tbh

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's a wonderful season if there are no heatwaves where you live, if you have a functioning air conditioning, are free from work or either work full morning shift, and have money to travel, have a private pool at home or either go to a private club, and enjoy leisure time.

by JumpyManufacturer737 1 day ago

Depends on where you are on the globe. Near or in the tropics, summer time is hell. In the temperate zone or above - it could be nice

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Bruh 😐

by lemkedarius 1 day ago

I hate the heat and humidity. My dad said it best, "If it's cold out, put on a coat and you'll get warm. If it's hot, you can be buck naked and it's still hot"

by Pure_Buddy_3516 1 day ago

I just moved to Chicago, and now that I walk everywhere, I realize how much summer can suck lol. Every time you step outside to walk to a store you're sweaty and sticky. The heat tires you out. I love swimming at the lake and tanning though, but when August comes around I'm about ready for cool weather and football.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Totally region dependent. I live in Scotland, so summer is the only month that isn't constantly miserable.

by aftonfeeney 1 day ago

Come to the Pacific Northwest. Here in Seattle the summers are perfection. Sunny, cool nights, and rarely over 80 degrees.

by blandamonserrat 1 day ago

The only good part of summer is how light it stays, other than that it sucks

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Spring and Autumn are the best. Winter third. Summer is just too GD hot out to go do anything most of the day. At least I don't have a lot of bugs where I'm at.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Highly dependent on where you live and if AC is a luxury or not

by Key-Bumblebee3293 1 day ago

"ever". Because the 5th season that was cancelled in 1821

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Summer is only great when we're young because as children that's the only semblance of freedom we have outside of our prison schooling sentences. As adults when we have more agency there's barely time to enjoy it and when we do it's just overhot most of the time. Autumn and Winter are easily becoming my favorites. Autumn for the beauty and Winter for the introspection it intsills in me.

by PruneMiserable 1 day ago

I've always said that summer is only enjoyable if youre lucky enough to be near a body of water; whether it be a pool, lake, beach, etc.

by Anonymous 1 day ago
