Until you can get an IMAX experience at home, theaters will always have a place.

Interestingly, Apple VisionPro offers that today. I'll be interested to see if, when technologies like that get lightweight and inexpensive, if it will seriously impact movie theaters.

They need to do something, quality of movies has been going down overall, while a night out at the movies has gotten massively overpriced.

Said the same thing about VCRs in the late 70s. The movie studios realize that the only way to make money off movies is a theatrical release, especially when it comes to the long tail and longevity of a films revenue stream.

Where I live movie theaters are popular. People are also looking for thing to do outside of the home. I hate the idea of everything being at home for convenience, I dont want to live in a world with no malls, movie theaters, dine in resturants, or any place to go.

In china there are large screen theaters within spas you you go to and get a full body massage while watching the movie. Food service too.

I pretty much only watch tv shows. I have a 65" TV and do have a nice audio system and enjoy it with the odd movie now and then!

afaik the same thing was said when DVD, then blueray, then home entertaining system, etc. theaters keep going strong.

They won't completely disappear, there will always be people who will go out of their way to watch movies in a theater. But we will likely see the number of theaters decrease in the future.

My parents were watching the Wire in 480p the other day. Most people don't care about the quality

What's your stance on this? Asking questions unpopular. Unless you're trump or his supporters asking about epstein files.
