Pretty sure they mean the literal sense of turning around one corner. Whether its the corner you see there or the one in 5 miles it is still one corner. Tho its still wrong you could be in a place where you have to turn two corners.

In fact no matter where in the world I am, I could always say "I live around the corner" if I do not specify which corner I am talking about.

You can maybe say "I live around a corner" no matter where you are. You can't say "I live just around the corner" unless you live just around the corner.
