Prometheus was a good horror and science fiction movie. amirite?

It was entertaining and visually striking. But boy, was it dumb.

I liked it, I just don't like the liberties they took with the license…the space jockey from the first movie was so massive, no way it's the same as what we saw in Prometheus

The fact that they were all dead in the span of a few hours after landing on the planet tells you just how little the writers considered the process of actual scientists. They've got automatic mapping technology? Why wouldn't you deploy that before wandering around. There's also no way a xenobiologist would go over and immediately start poking some random creature they found. It's one thing when teenagers or otherwise "normal" characters make bad decisions.

Terrible, terrible Alien movie. Okay sci fi movie. Android and Shaw are solid. The geographer guy and the biologist guy are obscenely stupid. Dialogue is clunky. Set design is good. Practical effects on the old man aren't great.

Great shots. Great VFX. Great body horror (the self surgery). Great acting from the two leads, but oof. The story and execution suck so bad.

I can't accept that a bunch of exobiologists took one look at a class M planet and decided since they couldn't see any species from space, it must have none and it was safe to land. Star Trek would never.

Put all the dead characters in a circle and rotate their death scenes one space to the right, and the movie would be 50% better The biologist dying by poking the clearly hostile alien is such idiotic writing that it made me question Scott's cred

I just wish they'd make the characters act with some common sense. Like no way am I going helmet off in an unknown environment with unknown creatures, disease, etc. When the smart science types get the whole book smart not street smart treatment I roll my eyes so hard. It's not that it's unbelievable it's just so stupid. There are a million ways to kill off characters without making them drooling idiots.

Taking off the helmets is not a bad idea. Why would they come that far and suddenly not trust their sensors? They trusted them in space, they trusted them when the storm was coming, they trust all of the equipment on the ship, they trust them when they need to wear them outside, but here is where they need to take caution? I'm not saying playing with the snake was the right idea, but this idea that all of the scientists were these bumbling idiots has never made any sense. Shaw getting saved by a rock is probably sillier than most of the stuff people complain about.

I think it was a bad idea because of the potential diseases in the air. It looked like the ship had bioweapons which could possibly infect anyone upon contact with the air.
