+52 I hate when people say birds eating other kinds of birds is cannibalism. amirite?

by Weak_Accident6195 2 days ago

Not unpopular. Cannibalism is simply eating members of one's own species

No, a closer comparison would be eating monkey meat. Still not cannibalism of course. But we know they can communicate with us in a shared language, they display many of the same behaviours and traits of humans. I've no doubt there'll be people out there who are fine with it. But I think a lot of people would be reasonably queasy about the idea of it.

Monkeys are smart, but not that smart. Not even he other apes, who are much more intelligent than monkeys, can really communicate with us in a shared language.

many birds engage in cannibalism anyways so what's the problem with people correctly stating this just bc it's about a fictional depiction or not exactly the same species or sth? all your comparisons are obv mischaracterizations. clearly a seagull is much more closely related to a chicken than you are to a cow or to wheat. if you're gonna be pedantic you should at least be correct yk

Are you saying seagulls and chickens are more closely related from knowledge of animal phylogenies and evolution or due to their appearance(which is what I'm mad about)?

Are seagulls and chicken more closely related than humans and cows?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I.. don't think so. Seagulls evolved a VERY long time ago

I once fed a McNugget to a chicken.

Chickens do cannibalise often

by Weak_Accident6195 2 days ago

Chickens can be brutal to each other and will literally eat each other while alive if stressed out so this is actually not weird.

IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME
